Yeah I guess that makes sense when put like that. So therefore I am presuming that I could not save a Raw image as a JPEG image without first having to do some image processing, is that right.

I am getting a little confused about why have raw images. Once you have manipulated a raw image then surely it is no longer a raw image, is this right. Therefore you have got to save it as a JPEG, what is the advantage doing this over taking an intila JPEG and then porcessing if need be. Also if you cant save Raw images what use are they? Is it better to shoot a raw image and then process it and save it as a JPEG or is it better to shoot JPEG if you are going to convert it to JPEG anyway. Sorry I am not asking this question very well but hopefully you will get the idea of what I am trying to find out.

Cheers

Hi

I downloaded the free version of silkypix to play around with. I can open raw files I have saved in My Pictures and manipulate them but then I dont see how to save them? Can anyone offer advice one what I should be doing to save my manipulated images, why is it not obvious?

Hi

I have just purchased my first DSLR (K200D). I am looking for advice on imaging software to purchase. I am thinking of Photoshop elements but keep also hearing about a package called, I think, Lightroom. Does anyonye have opinions about either of these. I would want whatever package to be able to manipulate raw images. I am also looking for ideas on the best way to store my images on my PC, I guess if I purchased Photoshop there would be the option of storing on the software. What about web based storage, any thoguhts on that. Finally what is a good way way of backing up images in case my laptop crashes and all is lost, DVD, CD, Memory sticks etc..?

Hi

I have just bought a K200D my first DSLR. I am unsure about processing the images I take. When shooting JPEG is it better to process in camera or use an external image processor, such sa HP Image zone, I do not have photoshop. For example is it better to atler say exposure/saturation externally or is it better to use the camera's processing function. I realise it is better to get these right when shooting but that does not always happen. Aslo IF I shoot RAW images and then use the cameras processing function to convert them to JPEG's will they be as good as shooting JPEG in the first place or better than.

How do you upload images that are just saved on your PC in My Pictures?
