Yep, I think eventually I will get it in for a proper service as condition wise it is as new, probably never really used much. It's a keeper.

Still enjoy using these old cameras.

Weirdest thing. The ME Super was just sitting on a shelf and all of a sudden there was a "click".....

The shutter just closed back. How odd. I really have no idea whether this was something I pressed when it originally happened or whether it's just a slightly sticking mechanism. Though I have run two films through it and testing it now there doesn't appear anything wrong, the mechanism operates fine.

Wanting some advice on how to proceed on my ME SUper who's shutter jammed open on the weekend. I have salvaged the film (half unused which is annoying and it's a B+W film!) and hopefully at least the pictures on that will be ok.......

It's in mint condition apart from this problem and I don't want to have to retire it, but I don't think it's a fix I could do myself or that I would like to risk myself. I'm a little frustrated over this which is why it's taken me a few days to get around to looking at it and posting this!

How are Tokina lenses thought of? Seem to be rather too reasonable in price?

I've been considering whether I should go for a 28mm lens for my ME Super as I seem to like landscapes and am not sure whether the 50mm f2 lens I have will be an adequate stand in? Ideally I would be looking for a reasonable quality but inexpensive lens and wonder if anyone has some ideas of what to look out for?

I'm setting this camera up as a Black and White film camera as I think this would be a nice way of using it and it will be a general purpose usage.

Something about all this really depresses me.......


Making me even more paranoid and worried about having a camera in public......... Possibly to the point where I simply won't take anything into an urban environment.

How did you find the experience of using this machine? I have boxes of my Grandads and Dads slides that could do with digitising.

I understand it's a slow process but how good is the image it produces in comparison to a good DSLR image and did you have to do considerable editing work within the computer post scanning?

The camera came with the manual, very informative! Everything seems good, light seals are fine, not gooey anyway! I have a film in it and will test it out when we finally get some sun! I really wonder how much use this has had, the plastic cover is still on the bottom of the camera.........Almost as new..

It won't replace digital, but I was using a Nikon EM film SLR yesterday and it was a satisfying experience. I'm looking for places to get the films developed, I don't have the space or (probably!) technical ability to develop my own!

Which labs are good? I'd def get them scanned onto cd too. Should be interesting what happens!

Well, I ended up picking up a ME Super. In it's box and almost mint, the strap is still in its plastic............ Found an ME 2 Winder in a drawer as well.

Feels really nice and is a good size. Combined with my M42 lenses hopefully will produce some really good images when I've gotten used to it. I suppose I'll have to get used to processing costs as well!

My Grandad and my Dad both had Pentax film slr's and used them heavily so I already knew the brand and associated it with good cameras.

What sold the K200d to me was the weather sealing, which as I mainly use cameras out and about in the countryside was quite important! No other brand offered this at comparable prices. Quality wise it is really good and the images I get from it (even though I don't really know what I'm doing!) have really impressed me. I didn't really know much about cameras at the time and have yet to use another brand of SLR camera.

But pleased with Pentax!
