I don't remember the details off-hand now but I do remember reading the reason why. If you remove the AA filter then there are other adjustments that need to be made to the camera - you can't just remove the filter and away you go.
I think this explains everything! The price difference is for the effort made to remove the filter and making other adjustments. Sounds sensible to me. COST OF LABOUR!

Nice ones, but I have always felt that the light makes the subject bright and the natural feeling is lost.

The only down-side (at least for me) is that the camera uses AAA batteries and not the lithium ones.

Hi, X5 was on sale on Bid TV last night. It sold for 199.99 quids. Impressive stuff for the price. 340 pieces sold in a matter of 30 minutes. I did not have spare cash to buy. But will certainly buy later.

Hi, IMHO even if the forum was not predominantly British in membership, jobs well carried out deserve to be appreciated. Yes, undoubtedly the London Olympics were very well executed. I am not a British, but happy and proud that efforts paid off. One may belong to any country or background, but finally its the human effort that's in play and that makes us all one. I agree with Algernon in that the BBC did a great job too. Great work!....

Thanks guys for your response. Maybe the person I saw is not aware of this forum. As Smeggy has pointed out, it is big news to see someone with a Pentax. I only see Nikon or Canon carriers....and it feels great to see Pentax lovers.
