Hi, X5 was on sale on Bid TV last night. It sold for 199.99 quids. Impressive stuff for the price. 340 pieces sold in a matter of 30 minutes. I did not have spare cash to buy. But will certainly buy later.

They sold 100 within minutes during the afternoon programme and another 340 in the evening slot, as Jeeess says. The presenter and a guy from Pentax did a fantastic job plugging the virtues of Pentax cameras, particularly image quality and ergonomics.
It must have given the brand a fantastic marketting boost.

The only down-side (at least for me) is that the camera uses AAA batteries and not the lithium ones.

No, 4 AA's and of course these are obtainable in lithium (as well as alkaline, Nickel and Ni-MH.) It's specified to use any of these according to DP Review. link

Im not happy with my X5 Bought it Sept 2012 and its broken on off switch problem. Just out of Warranty. [yeah right ].. Been in touch with Pentax last monday as of yet still awaiting reply .. So to me Pentax yet again takes ya cash leaves ya dead . Well done Pentax

I've not heard of an 18 month warranty, usually it's 12 or 24 months.
So have you had previous problems with Pentax?

where did you buy from? ricoh website ?....
ALL the goods on http://www.shop-uk.ricoh-imaging.eu have a standard international warranty of two years starting from the billing date..
