The new lens was lightning fast. Shockingly so for a Pentax .
I didn't try the 60-250, someone else did and he said it was faster on the K-5 than on his K-7. Still not as fast as the new lens though.
He wasn't allowed to put the new lens on his camera, but could put his lens on the K-5.

Been wondering why the guy was not allowed to put the new lens on an older body - Is there anything possible that would suggest the new one is only fast fast on a K5:

Must say that the whole WR thing belies the fact that we have (all) been shooting in naff conditions for years (me chasing sailboats on the Solent), without any concern about the potential damage to lenses.

Are we all getting too soft?

WR though is better than no WR

Thats probably why the lense is so expensve. If it's the Pentax DCT 400 in comes in at £1207.06 - so obviously Pentax are actually subsidising it

No Gwyn, I am in a genuine quandry. I could be just finding the reasons for not spending the money

Re your comment about focus performance - was there very much difference between the new lense and the other one you tried:

Yep Gwyn, I am up for it. Guess the only thing that puts me off an immediate purchase, is that early versions always have the bugs.

What do people think - am I being over cautious

Actually Jacobs are taking preorders for the K-5 body only at £999 which is less than I paid for my K-7 when it first came out.

Archie[/quote]Will someone tell SRS that

Just tried something else. So when I get the error message I click ok which brings up the 'Diagnose Connection' message, click that and it brings me back to the page

Wouldn't say speed is a problem too much - but I have had to re-log on must be 7 times today

Now I have the new one, I am using the 100mm - providing you get dof right it produces good stuff.
