Thanks for all the tips, like most things it looks like it will have to be more practice.

Have to admit Andy I never really thought about the live view, but could see this would be handy with the tripod shot where there is no real rush, but hardly ever used the live view on my bridging camera either.

Went through your flickr Stu very nice shots in there, also re-enforces my need for practice.

darkskies, the macro work is one of the reasons I am trying to work on the MF, so will just have to get plenty of practice when I get back.

Algi, the eyepiece is an interesting thought, when using these do you lose anything on the sides when looking through the viewfinder? but something to follow up none the less.

Thanks all
H

I was trying out some of my old manual focus lenses (very briefly as it turns out) I have the K-r, I have already set the dioptre with the kit lenses so I could rule that out, but I am finding it extremely difficult to get the focusing nailed manually, the view finder without the split circle in the middle is for me an awkward faff, back and forth for an eternity it seems.

What tips and tricks are there out there for this?

Cheers

I can't help I'm afraid, but been getting similar results with my K-r especially outdoor shots, anything with alot of green in seems to be slightly underexposed.

My indoor without flash have been good, so have put it down to my learning experience and needing to learn a bit more with the camera, but like you finding it a touch frustrating.

Great pictures, had been shying away from the 18 - 250 but may consider these as an option now.

As for the motors

1 Rover coupe
2 Can't argue with the mkII, glorious motor
3 one of the nissans maybe

I got one of these (£3.80 delivered) and use it with Uniross Hybrio rechargeables which make this another low cost reliable alternative and means you will always be able to use standard AA's if the rechargeables run out and you don't have a charger to hand.
Wasn't this seller but I have picked up one of these and threw some Lithium batteries in the bag as back ups, covers all eventualities then and for a few quid cannot grumble.

Have the Heritage, unfortunately we don't seem to make the most of it, but after the first year on renewal the membership covers a reasonable discount on the Scottish heritage sites, again it appears to be well underused.

So this year may not renew, will worry about it when the reminder drops through the letterbox.

I've not done any firework shots for a very long time, but after seeing these I am looking forward to the next displays, some very nice captures.
