Well I dont know much about this at all, but in my view it depends on the speed your shooting;

The mirror pops, flash fires, so that the shutter captures the light on the tank it opens after?

however

you may have set a setting to reduce the power of the flash by a considerable amount (thus, it fires earlier perhaps?)

Infact ive just gone and grabbed my camera, and yes, the flash fires as the shutter opens - so you see the reflection, not the flash? or vice versa.
There is a setting in menu (I use a K100D, not super, but i think its probably the same) - Flash Exp. Comp. - To compensate for underexposure with the flash, boost it up to +1.

Basically, does anyone have experience with K100D and infrared filters? Does it work, and well (without crazy exposure times)?

I like the composition, just the strong yellow light on the lighthouse is offputting, yet its natural, I dunno, it just doesnt seem "right".

I can't see myself investing in a new camera after a year, maybe after my exams this summer, I might, but still, I doubt it.
It all depends on the price really.

I woke up one day, early for once, glanced out the window and could see past the wall five metres away, so I decided to go down to the beach (20minute walk) for some photos of it I probably spent about 1 and a half hours walking along the beach and through the dunes, caught a bad cold, and got very wet, but I feel it was worth it.

Yeah, I was considering the 105mm macro, just because its always useful to have a macro lens I guess, and it was the right focal length.
The other option is splashing out on Sigma's 50-150mm f/2.8 which although more expensive than other options would fill a lot of gaps, and would probably end up more useful than a a prime around 100mm

Thanks for the suggestions, I think I will probably go for the 10-20mm, and maybe wait a while and save up for a prime at around 100mm
Im fine with manual stuff, I would just need to practise manual focusing I guess heh.
I did find one site which sold second hands, but I cannot tell what all the names mean whether they are M42 or K mount, etc.
For example (three randomly picked)
35mm F3.5 SMC PK
40mm F2.8 SMC M
35-70mm F3.5-4.5 SMC F
Is there an explanation somewhere of the letters (PK, M, A, F, FA etc) and how can I distinguish between M42 mount lenses and K mount?
Oh and finally, are M42>K mount adapters expensive, or hard to find?
