Pentax's

What are the expectations for the new Pentax cameras for the end of January? Will it live up to, or exceed our expectations. Well personally, I think they will and in bucket-loads. But then again, my criteria is quite specific to my work flow. I believe that what they will release will be a precedent setter, just as the K10D set the barometer higher than all of the competing brands in that category. In fact the K10D seemed to want to play ball in the Big Leagues and came out looking pretty damned good.

Don't want to be vague, but this is the best I can do for now. All I can say, is as a professional, what will be on offer will more than suffice.

Unlocker, when you have been around here a little longer you will get used to Ben and his teasing. He is party to more information than the rest of us and drops hints where he can. Some people are annoyed by his enforced vagueness, but I think it adds to the fun.

For my part, I hope the K20D doesn't exceed my expectations by far. This is because I love my K10D to bits and don't want to replace it!

I hope it's not too much over £700, then maybe I can afford a "big brother" for my K10D!

Just out of curiosity, given that the new Pentax will probably drop in price quite quickly, as did the other K*Ds this year, how many here would still be early adopters, assuming it's as fab as Ben would have us believe?

I think for me, the next £1k of my photographic budget (which is currently zero ) will be for glass, not a body.

I probably won't be getting one. The K10D is a very capable camera, and I really can't see how a new body is going to add anything very useful.

Frankly, I was very happy with the *istD, apart from its speed, and speed was the main reason for upgrading to a K10D. SR and the colour balance features were icing on the cake, but not enough on their own, and certainly not enough to make up for lack of TTL.

Of course, the advent (six months later) of SDM lenses provided another reason.

It depends on how good the specs are and the price. The correct "mix" may temp me, although I should also be buying more glass instead really.

I can't see myself investing in a new camera after a year, maybe after my exams this summer, I might, but still, I doubt it.

actually I thought the K10D held its price quite well, it didn't really budge from the £600 I paid for mine for several months. Granted it has now tumbled somewhat, but in these days of electronics which are out of date before they hit the shops, it did pretty well.

I'm definitely with George, I really can't imagine what K20D can possibly offer which will make me buy one. The K10 is just too close to perfect

I paid £700 for mine in January. Wasn't it quite a bit more when it first came out?

It's under £500 now.

I think, if the new one comes out in Jan 2008, I might stick with the K10D for a while at least for nine months or so. Once I've got a couple more lenses, I might feel different!!

List price was £749 with lens, £649 body only, but most places were doing them at £699 for the kit from the off.

If it was 30 Megapixel, Full Frame Sensor, 20 FPS and came with a perfect 10-500 compact kit lens and cost £99.00 PA would still find fault!
