Thanks John, I was mainly refering to full frame lenses. What is meant by "telecentric" and why should a full frame lens have poorer correction of the cromatic abberation?

This makes it my favourite DSLR.
However my all time favourite Pentax is my Super-A fitted with the winder.

This makes a lot of sense to me when the lens is used on a normal 35mm film camera.
However when used on a digital camera, like the K5, only a smaller inside portion of the lens seems to be used.
This seems to imply, that the edge sharpness is of no consequence anymore.
Is this correct?

If you find yourself worrying about screen protectors, and worse forming opinions about which model of screen protector is better or worse, you should start questioning why you're into the photography game in the first place.
Well, old Smeggy seems to possess quite an arrogant streak.
For one who doesn't like to worry if and what sort of screen protector
to use, he seems to worry greatly what 50mm lens he should use.
Also the comment about 'you should start questioning why you're into the photography game in the first place. is in my opinion totally out of place.
Surely not all of us here are professional photographers . For me it is a great hobby. I like to make pictures to the best of my ability and I also like to treat my camera gear with care.
I don’t have to run around with a camera with the paint worn on the edges, just to show what a tough photographer I am and dreaming of dragging the camera trough mud and snow on some dangerous adventure.
I am quite happy to mount my camera on a tripod if possible after I've seen something I like and then press the button.
I remember when the first black painted Cameras came on the market. Some keen professionals took fine sandpaper and took the paint of on the edges to show, how professional they are.
I am an electronics engineer by trade. My work tools, be they mechanical or electrical, are looked after as much as possible. I don't need to thrash them , just to show how good I am.
I admit, I use a screen protector on my K5. The protector cost me 7 Dollars and the camera over 1000.
I only use the screen for setting up the camera parameters and sometimes to have a quick glance at the last shot I took. But It makes me feel better when I know I can wipe fingermarks etc of the screen and it is protected from scratches.
I use the viewfinder for taking. That’s what I bought a SLR for.
So please Smeggy, be a bit more understanding how other people see photography.
Kind Regards, Horst

If you can get a winder for your camera, you'll find, it is easier to hold the camera, because it will fit better in to your hand, and the release on the winder is softer.
The winder also lets you use a slowe shutter speed if required without shake.
You can also carry it around , holding it on the winder. You don't need a strap then.
I have a 24mm f2.8 , a 28mm f2.8 and the 50mm F1.4 A lenses in addition to the 28-80-A zoom lens.
I find for landscape photography, I use mostly my 50mm and not the wide angle. To me the image seem to small and I miss the details of the landscape.
But of course most people seem to think for landscapes a wideangle is a must, the wider the better.
Having said all that, the Program-A camera is a great camera.

I've made a series of pictures at a country market, then in the city area and some closeup of flowers. At home some portraits of the grandchildren. I found the results great. Very sharp right to the edges. My favourite f-stops are 5.6 and 8
I could not detect any flair. I used a lens hood, of course.
Alltogether, I think this is a great lens. Easy to use and I like the focal lenngt too.Regards, Horst

I had a look at some revievs on the Internet. Most revievs where in favour, but most the complaynts where about the mechanical part. Some said the focussing ring was to sloppy, others complaine bout the plastic feel. The lens I bought feels fine and has no slop anywhere, Agreed, the feel when changing aperture is not very smooth. But none of the Pentax lenses since the Spotmatic days are as smooth anymore. I have a 50mm f1.4 Super Takumar which is super smooth both on focus and aperture settings.
I found the Little 35-70 lens very nice to use. Set on A. The autofocus was extremly fast and accurate.

Everybody told me now how to do it, but I still don't know, what the improvements of the new firmware are.
Does anybody know?
