I'd be quite happy to use a Ricoh K-mount DSLR. I've owned Ricoh products before and I've always been more than happy with quality and reliability - a good marriage.

Cheers Lilly - I was lacking inspiration then I saw your entry and shot off with the picture in my hand. I'll split the prize if I win...

Does this not sound like the beginning of the end?

"Our digital camera business is not exactly a big operation. There are naturally questions among us whether it is big enough to go it alone," Hoya Chief Executive Hiroshi Suzuki told Reuters in an interview on Tuesday.
Not really, Hoya are glass specialists so I would expect them to keep overall control of lens production but camera bodies don't really sit well with the rest of their portfolio, hence I think it would make sense to get them made by either one of the electronics heavyweights (like Samsung) or an independent who likes a challenge (Cosina).

I don't think Pentax's death knell is being sounded just yet...

As long as the K-mount survives I'm not that bothered which name appears on the front of the products. Samsung would seem a natural partner but I wouldn't rule out Cosina, Seagull, Ricoh, KMZ/Zenit...

A link up with someone like Seagull (with huge manufacturing capacity, experience and links to the Chinese market) could be a very good thing for the future of Pentax.

My favourite field, where I like to sit and contemplate the views over the Vale. The oldest records we can find show my family was living around half a mile from here in 1640 - now 369 years later I live around two miles from here; we don't get around much!

The photo in the frame was taken around the beginning of the last century in this same field and shows my Grandfather and Great-Grandfather operating the very first tractor in Aylesbury Vale.

That last one reminds me of why I stand *behind* the camera...

Gotta get myself one of those hotshoe-mounted Dannys!

Hmmmmmm.... The serial number on that DA35 looks suspiciously familiar...

Funny to think the first insect macros it's ever taken weren't by me!

I've started a new thread in the Your Photos section for shots from the day - just put a few up to start us off.
