I tried to buy localy when I got my K200d.

The problem was the two Pentax dealers I know (and use) couldn't get me the body and Mk2 lens, they were being sent the older Mk1 lenses by 20-20 who used to import Pentax.

To match the on line prices they said they would have had to sell me my body/lens combo at a loss of £100! Although the Mk2 lens was standard OUTSIDE the UK!!!

Now Pentax are dealing directly with the shops (no middle man) the prices are getting better.

I'll see what they're like this time next year when the new bodies are available.

Until then I try to shop local, but can't always afford to!

There's no accounting for morons. In truth Pentax have too small a market share for Jessops to bother with, but hey, Jessops won't survive 2009.
Canon, the market leaders (HAH!) announced a drop in profits. Pentax are going from strength to strength.

Jessops are....

The amazing sight of five Spits in a row would be better in letterbox, IMHO.
I agree kris, but the far end two appear to be a Casa Bf109 and a Focke Wolf 190!

But I don't know much about aircraft.

Nice shots from uor father and sorry to hear of you loss Rob

Seriously, the old cameras are lovely bits of kit but to want to use one these days, when we have the technology
to make it easier.
I wont be lending you my Horseman then...

Actually, I find using old kit (a) fun and (b) good discipline. Using digital has made me lazy!

Cheers, Kris.
I agree there Kris, I've started carrying digital and film bodies with me.

Digital for instant results and film for that thoughtful moment that I want to capture.

The film bodies I use most? MX!

So basically Canon & Nikon users attach a ruddy great fast lens and blast away as fast as the camera will allow?
Yes, a bloke I work with goes to air shows and gets impressive in flight shots with his eos5 thing.

Trouble is they appear to be at the rate of 1 in 200!

He has a BIG memory card and doesn't see what's actually happening, he just trawls through tons of dross and picks the best.

My Pentax on the other hand, produces tons of good stuff and very little dross when I go out walking.

Nice shots Mike.

Bayonet filters would be fantastic.
But in the real world all that extra cost would be prohibitive.
Unless ALL filters were bayonet fit.

Back on topic, I fancied a Pentax 6x7. Just to be boring again.

I would ask Pentax to convert my film MX to digital.
I would never look at another camera again....
Ooh good reply!

Hadn't thought of that one, why are modern DSLRs so BIG???

If you had it serviced before she started using it on her course was a warranty offered and if so is it still valid?:

I had a camera serviced which died just out of warranty, the shop were very good and sorted the problem out at no extra cost.

Or just keep pluging away and get a new body

Do you want to go pro?

Do you want a good qualification?

Can you afford it (for just a hobby)?

If you answer yes to 2 or more go for it, if not just join a local club and keep reading the forums.
