I keep getting a pang to have a go with a Pentax 67...
Hold that thought long enough and film will call you back to the 'dark slide'

To do it with digital you'll need the new 645...

I would be quite a happy with a simple DSLR with Av, Tv, M, P and X and the LCD.
That's another topic that has been talked about before.

Many times.

Are you serious about NEVER using film again?

What would happen in that 'I've had my camera nicked' situation on holiday?

What do I miss? Using my twin lens reflex 6cm x 6cm was a wonderful experience...and the huge negatives ... and the prints...
Load it up with something like Fuji Velvia and go out and use it! You'll enjoy it. Honest.
Or get some Ilford FP4 in it and develope it yourself!!

The feeling I'm getting is that film is not dead, a lost art or just for wierdies, it's a fondly remembered friend.

So far there's some interesting comments.

It seems that most have moved from film to digital and improved since doing so.

My view is that you should try film at least once, as I stated earlier, simply because it makes you slow down when shooting. After all only having 24 or 36 attempts at getting the shot right certainly focuses the mind on compositio, exposure etc.

PLEASE, don't anybody take this the wrong way. It's just my view!

Have you ever used a film camera or did you go straight to digital?

Not as strange a question as it first sounds, I have said in the past everybody should use at least one film SLR before moving to digital, and caused quite a stir.

Still, that was another topic a while back...

As an expedition/short break/city visit record I take quite a few, usually though I seem to find a subject(s) I like and take several of it(them).

When it comes to PP I'm lazy so I prefer to have 3 or 4 good shots rather than one perfect one.

Now I'm back on film as well as digital it's making me more critical when composing, thus making the digital shots better.

If you're flying and taking it as hand luggage let the security guys know that it's a film camera and ask them to pass it over the x-ray machine to avoid any chance of ruining film. That goes for any exposed films as well.

Modern machines are supposed to be 'safe' with film, but...

As a 'get by' have you considered the 55-300DAL, see this link, the price is right.

You could even afford to try this as well.

I'll own up to owning a blue Sony Cyber-shot U, it was cheap, still works and is easy to find!
