Is it a standard VGA plug, the type that's been around for ever?
Or is the monitor a more recent one with a choice of connectors?

Not only ANY K mount but (with an adaptor) ANY M42 as well!
No other manufacturer has supported a mount so faithfully, preferring instead to force people to bin perfectly good lenses because they wont work on the latest body.
And don't forget that there are adaptors to use K mount lenses on canon and nikon bodies, as well as some others...
Rant over,
so,
did you get the lens Pentaxboyo?

I've tried a few different lenses in this range and stayed with the Tamron.
The Pentax image quality is better but at the time I couldn't afford one and since getting a Tamron 18-250 I find I don't switch lenses as much.
The problem with this range of lens sizes is they're usually slow(ish) and have a long focus travel, both of which makes them slow to lock on.
For a fast 300mm you could go for a prime, but you may have to mortgage the cat to do it!

It works on plain screens in both my MZ-6 and K110d, the advantage (?) being that I can adjust slightly forward or backward on what the camera sees as in focus and still not lose lock.
My MX does indeed become hard to use on lenses slower than f4.5 due to black outs in the split screen.
I,ve tried a cheap chinese split screen for the K200d but binned it. It needed so many shims it was almost falling out!
