I was unable to gauge the quality as all the samples were pre-production and misaligned. They were soft and produced some awful halos because they were put together to demonstrate the size, shape and operation; not optical quality.
That's a shame, I guess I will wait for some early adopter's thoughts on production units and a review or two before making a move on this one. Size is no a big deal to me although the tripod mount issue sounds a bit worrying.

Sadly I couldn't make it along to SRS yesterday because of other commitments so I'd also be interested in opinions of the 60-250

Looks like quite a close copy styling wise to the Pentax grip, shame the rubberised material isn't a little closer in texture to the Pentax one.
I must admit I got my Pentax BG2 grip soon after my K20D and it's never been off the camera when I've been using it. Makes for a very nicely balanced handling package

Also, with macro photography and also long telephoto shots, I believe that I do see noticeable degradation of the image and light when sticking extra glass in front of the lens that the manufacturers didn't design it for. As an example, the Sigma 500mm f4.5 actually comes with its own protective front element built in - but that was designed specifically by Sigma for that lens.
Any degradation must also relate to quality of filter used, the parallelism of the glass, it's thickness, flatness, surface properties and transmission properties of the coating(s). So I would say using a good quality filter certainly lessens any perceived or real effect (which I am yet to see :wink.
BTW I also use lens hoods so I must be Mr belt and braces

I have a Hoya Pro1 DMC UV filter on every lens I own. As far as I can tell it doesn't affect the image quality (if it does maybe I'm not looking closely enough :wink and anyway I feel happier with some level of protection for my front element(s)

My last serious bike, rebuilt from scratch pretty much. Should of added that it was a FZR1000, pre EXUP but still plenty fast enough for me. Apologies for the scanned 35mm

This was just before I sold it
