Although the k-7 is a great camera, last year i chose the k-x over it in antisipation of them bringing something else out to take over the k-7, the k-5 come out so my choice was right i feel, i wouldn't of been happy spending the extra on the k-7 and then potentially not be able to afford the k-5.

My question is this. You say your happy with your k10, do i assume your already happy with the lenses you have with it? if so why compromise to save a bit to get a lens aswell, i'd say go for the k-5 and keep useing the lenses you have. i hope this doesnt sound offensive as its not intended, but are you looking for a reason not to buy the k-7 cause your questioning it yourself? sounds a bit to me like you want the k-5 and looking for a reason not to buy the k-7 and if thats the case you should buy the k-5 as your always going to be questioning wether you made the right choice or not and inevitably make you unhappy with the k-7.

the pentax site says its full hd recording at 1080p

The difference between 720p and 1080p are actually quite large, more noticeable if you view console games but still noticeable on anything really. Fact is they say its full hd at 1080p when it actually seems its not. Thats false advertising if that is the case.

If you watch sky hd then thats not actually full hd either, only actually 1080i or 720p, if you watch a full hd blueray or hd dvd at 1080p its very noticeable.

According to pentax the k-5 is capable of full hd movie recording at 1080p. is it just me or is this wrong? everything i can find in the settings and the manual says its 1080i which is not full hd.

Have i got a missed setting or is it only capable of 1080i? if i've missed something what have i missed?

Cheers.

Are you saying it instaled the firmware on the second attempt or just that the camera worked OK?
I tried the camera with no card after i put the battery back in and the camera worked fine, so tried the update again and it went through fine on the second try.....very strange.

Had a bit of a bad moment last night, been messing with the camera a bit, not a lot as was at work but then about 11:30 last night i decided to update the firmware........thats when it all went wrong.

I downloaded it, extracted it read the read me just to refresh my memory and followed the instructions.

Copied the file to memory card, inserted into camera, help menu while turning it on.....it makes the dust removal noise, goes blank then does nothing else, wouldnt light up turn on or off nothing, i got in a state

Lucky enough removed the battery took the card out re inserted battery turned it on and it fired up. PHEW.

Tried again and it worked fine

have a look at the pics on my profile, the animals were taken with the k-x and a tamron 70-300 lens, those lens you can get for around £100 which is great if your on a budget. they were handheld aswell
