G'day.
I had a F 35-105 do the same thing.
I ripped it apart and found a small piece of grey plastic had broken off of somewhere unknown and was jammed solid in the gears of the AF drive.
Removed the jammed plastic, reassembled, And the lens is still working fine. Buggered if I know where the plastic that was jamming the AF came from.

Hooroo.

P.S. getting the focus back to gether so that infinity was right was a real PITA.

G'day.
I've owned MZ-10, MZ30, MZ-50, MZ-60, MZ-6, MZ-7, MZ-5.

The only one I have now are the MZ-6 & MZ-7.
All the others have gone bye bye on ebay.
The 6 & 7 to me , are the most useful with AF and MF lenses.
The 6 is great for wireless flash as well.
Hooroo.

G'day All.
We Australians use colour rather than color too.
Must be the pommie convict thingy in our genes.

G'day Andy.
Mate, Point taken...
For a newbie to get started with, OK.
However, If the new Pentax owner wishes to try something a bit out of the ordinary, the -3, -5, -5n, -6 or -7 would be a better bet.
I went to the -6 & -7 due to a 600mm mirror lens that would not work on a -50 or -60 in anything other than manual mode.
Also, The -6 allows for spot metering with one of the Pentax Functions.

Hooroo.

G'day.
I had a MZ-50 & MZ-60.
I unloaded both of them on Ebay.
I now use MZ-6 or MZ-7.
These bodies allow me to use M & A lenses.

BTW... anybody want to buy a MZ-7 body no data back?

Hooroo.

MZ-30, MZ-50, MZ-60 & *ist only work with lens set to "A"

These pentax bodies are no better than a P&S camera.

G'day.
I use a AF400ftz with a 5P cable attached to a hot shoe adaptor FG. This allows the popup flash to be used as fill flash and the 400 used as a bounce flash on a hotshoe grip. This is hooked up to my MZ-6 or MZ-7.
Results are great.
The other alternative is to use the AF330ftz with 5p cable handheld with the contrast control set on the 330 with the popup flash for fill. this works great with the MZ-6 fitted to a tripod for portrait work.
Hooroo.

G'day.
You should try the Sigma 600mm f8 mirror lens.
I swear that the bloody focus ring goes round 3 times.

G'day Brian.
Thanks for the heads up.
However, One of the members of this forum sold me a AF330FTZ with a damaged foot (Thanks John).
I have rebuilt that flash with the good foot from my original flash.

Hooroo.

P.S. I see you have a few items on Ebay from time to time. Some of them are very interesting....
