G'day.
I've been using Photoshop CS2 for RAW files from *ist D and *ist Ds.

Very easy to use and does a great job.
Auto correct is very accurate.

G'day.
I got one of these from Cameta in the U.S.

Have tried it on a Ds and a D.

Works well considering the zoom factor.

Images are sharp @ f8 and above from 35-135.
Wide open, it is OK.
A Hoya UV 77mm filter just arrived. AM going to try it again on the weekend.
The only gripe is the poor Sigma lens caps. Bloody hard to put on and off when the lens hood is attached. I replaced mine with a Tamron cap that has the squeeze grips near the center.

SIGMA, if you are reading this, change your bloody lens caps.

Also, why do sigma lenses zoom the opposite way to Pentax zoom lenses?

A royal PITA when trying to catch the moment.

G'day Bundybabe.
I find that to get nice sharp images. I tend to keep the shutter speed as high as possible. This stops camera shake as well as freezing subject movement.

As george said. Only use the centre focus spot.

On the *ist D I use Program mode, set to High speed settings for outdoor shooting.

G'day All.
I am having some issues with the pop-up flash on the *istDs.

When used, the pop-up flash is underexposing by 1.5 to 2.0 stops at distances from 1.5 metres to 4 metres.
The lenses used are Pentax DA18-55 and Tamron 28-105.

It has only been doing this for the last week. Be for that it worked fine.
I'm running firmware 2.0
Flash compensation is set to 0.0 in the menu.
New batteries make no difference.
Left for a hour without batteries makes no difference.

If flash compensation is set to +1.0, image is still underexposed.

I have fitted both a AF330FTZ and a AF400FTZ external flash.
Both of these give perfect exposures of the same image that the pop-up flash gives underexposed image.

The Ds is not quite 12 months old.

Has anyone had the same happen?

Or am I looking at a visit to C.R. Kennedy for a Service?

Thanks.

G'day.
I've been running a DS with old firmware and the new 2.00.
Lenses used have been DA 18-55 and a Tamron 28-105.
Both lenses produce images so sharp that they would cut you open

camera set to P or Av most of the time.

Images only run thru Picasa 2 for levels.

G'day All.
I use Pentax SMC F 35-135 on the *ist Ds with very good results.

Slightly soft wide open but sharp @ 5.6 and above at all zoom ranges.

I have another one that Lives on the PZ-1p full time.
Again very good alround lens.

G'day All.
I've just bought a *ist Ds.
I've been using it for the last week or so.
In the manual it mentions cleaning the sensor.
My question is this: How do you know when the sensor needs cleaning?
Also, How do you clean the sensor?

Is there a cleaning fluid or lens pen type of gadget?

are there any no-no's when cleaning the sensor?

Thanks.

Thanks Kimbo.
I got the lens from eBay.
It had sticking aperture blades when it arrived.
I sent it to C.R. Kennedy (the Australian Pentax dealers) for repair.
It has come back CLAed as well as very snappy aperture blades.
They even tightened up the zoom ring so that it now does'nt self zoom when pointed down.

I really like the idea of having Macro on the 35-135. I feel it makes in very versatile for a walkaround lens.

G'day Everyone.
I have just aquired this AF lens.
I intend to use it on the PZ-1p.
Has anyone used this lens?
If so, how did you find it for sharpness, contrast, etc, etc, etc.

I welcome your findings.
