Evening folks, took delivery of the spare parts this afternoon and roughly 90 seconds per lenslater they are now both up and running again. Now it might be coincidence, pattern matching or just wishful thinking but the AF feels noticeably snappier on both lenses before the AF contacts breaking. I'm back in the game - i hope the information in the thread above also helps someone else in the future who might have this very same issue.

A bit of an adventure on Friday night saw an impromptu trip to Anglesey to photography the Milky Way over Eglwys Cwyfan (St Cwyfan's (Church in the Sea)) and then on to Bryn Celli Ddu Burial Chamber and then on to Penmon Lighthouse for sunrise on the Saturday morning.

The adventure started at 17:00 on the Friday with a challenging drive and race against time to get to the Church before sunset, unfortunately road delays and frustrations of the British road network meant we didn't get to Eglwys Cwyfan until gone 9pm and had missed both the high tide and sunset 🙁 - I was also plagued with technical difficulties with the camera and lenses (see my gold contacts thread) So the shots taken were at best guess with focus and composition and lens distance scale

At around 01:00 we moved on to Bryn Celli Ddu, which was just awesome, such a magnificent location, although nearby security lights from the Farm either helped or hindered the images to be captured, depends on your perception I suppose. We again managed to capture the Milky Way and some Aurora activity, by 5am we were set-up and waiting for the sunrise to break at Penmon Lighthouse.

The sunrise was actually one of the best ones I have experienced this year (yet to process the images captured) made only better by cooking up on the camping stove a couple packs of smoked bacon. A loaf of bread later we set off for home, getting back at 13:00 and straight to bed for an 18 hour sleep! - Thankfully no lens caps were lost in the making of the images.

I wouldn't recommend this for the faint of heart or hard of wallet, but I have considerable success with a vacuum hoover and hand blower....

Put camera into sensor cleaning mode so the mirror locks up, hold camera upside down, turn hoover on and rest hoover nozzle just outside of the camera, between your knees if your in a seated position, this pulls air away from the sensor, position your rocket blower or other blower and use it as you would normally.... any dislodged dust or particles are 'hovered' away .....

I use my camera in all environments and change lens when most wouldn't, so finding a solution to sensor cleaning after being on the beach for example and changing lenses with sand being whipped up around me has forced a little out of the box thinking when it comes to sensor cleaning, last thing I want to be doing is a wet clean dragging sand particles over the glass cover of the camera sensor.

Thanks, and thankfully not. I was quoted £25 + VAT + Shipping, so all in around £30 total for x2 parts. Which is fine, I use these lenses extensively and although the lenses still function in a manual sense, my K1 is exhibiting assorts of quirks in operation, with them attached.

Right, progress is being made. JPye have been in touch and the replacement part x2 have been paid for
All being well should be back up and running before the weekend. If its of any use or help to people...

Unfortunately not, the module is injected plastic around the brass contact, so there is no simple way to extract the brass and re-insert a new bit. I have tried

Hey folks, thanks for the replies. I'm chasing on JP and Ricoh. Failing that, probably worth me posting on the Pentax centric Facebook groups, might be someone who has spares/repairs. Looking on ebay, prices for spares/repairs lenses are cost prohibitive.

Correction - Its not a ribbon cable but rather Male/Female plug with the contact metal as seen here.
