Weather mostly and health a little has prevented me from getting out. However, this a.m. I managed to get to the local park with the K50 and PLM lens. Below should be just a few with the K50.

I'm quite pleased with the results of this mornings efforts, about fifty in all, of which, around fifteen are pretty good.

Thanks guys. Karlo, it is like night and day. The PLM lens is much faster to focus and is a lot more fun than hunting around with the old lens. In my humble opinion, it is well worth buying.

I've had too many doctors/hospital appointments of late to get out and do some 'stuff' using the new 55-300mm PLM lens. However, a little earlier this morning I managed to get out and do a bit. There should follow a few shots which are pretty decent, allowing for my standard of photography. They have been cropped and edited minimally with Elements 13.

Already they look much better than those taken with the older Tamron 70-300. Better focus and no purple fringing. I can only assume that the new focussing technology in that lens is making a difference, so it looks like it was a good choice.

I still rate the Tamron AF70-300 Di LD highly, but not for backlit subjects or AF speed.

Keep up the good work with the bird shots .... I would just add that if you find you need to keep using fairly high ISOs then I would recommend you look into your noise reduction processing skills, as this will give the photos more polish.
Thanks for the noise reduction tips. I shall look into it a bit more. At present I am trying to make sense of the Elements13 noise filter.

Not too shabby for only the second go after five months off methinks. Hopefully I'll improve as the weather and light does the same.

I posted about returning after my heart operation on, I think, 21.01.17. Since then I've posted a few shots and views about the new Pentax 55-300 PLM lens, most recently over the weekend.

I now cannot find these posts in the forum. Where Have they gone?

Please bear in mind that I am no pundit with regard to photography. My first impressions with the new Pentax 55-300mm PLM lens are rather good. The AF is very fast and with little or no hunting. They are not works of art but after my long lay off and my first effort with the new lens, I'm pretty pleased with the results.
Its a funny thing: I went for the 55 - 300mm lens and finished up replacing the camera! K-70 now, so comparing outcomes with previous K-50 efforts. I have now matched the K-50 with the Tamron - so still a step behind you Gedski.
Perspicador, I've only used the new 55-300 PLM lens the once, mainly due to the wet and very cold weather but if first impressions are continued then it is well worth the upgrade. The AF is very fast. Still not as fast as the Canon or Nikon but I'm not sure that is too far behind.

Apparently locally, Wednesday is supposed to be a fairly mild and pleasant day so I will be out for a fuller test of said lens.

I took delivery of the new Pentax 55-300mm PLM lens late this afternoon. I hope to give it a good go in the morning among the gulls at the back of my home. Also I hope to post some decent shots in the forum.
