DA 550 - Absolutely ! This is the lens I've been waiting for (so long as it is f5.6 and not f4 which would be too expensive).
DA 50 - No.
DA 18-250 - No.
DA 120-380 - if it is Sigma 100-300/4 quality then Yes, if a consumer zoom then No.
DA*16-85 - Yes. I hope it is fast.
DA 22-38 Ltd - Big Yes. It would fit in perfectly between my 15 & 43 Ltds.
DA 12-28 - Possibly. If it improved on the IQ of the Sigma 10-20.
TC - No. Happy enough with the Tamron x1.4 and AFA x1.7

The weight and bulk are so similar to a K-r that there only seems a size/weight advantage if you use the 40mm kit lens. In that case the backward compatability is no great advantage. The thing that manufacturers don't understand about viewfinders is that they have dioptre adjustment. There are 20 million people over 50 in the UK and they hold 80% of the wealth. The majority of these wear reading glasses like me. This means you have to put on glasses every time you want to take a photo with an LCD screen whereas the viewfinder can be dioptre corrected to negate this. So in my opinion this makes the camera an unlikely purchase for a massive number of people.

I am afraid, the K01 will give another reason for Pentax Users to jump and will certainly add very few new users
The K5/Kr users who are looking for the next rung up (possibly FF or maybe just the K5 MkII) will hang on and wait for the announcement of the two new DSLRs out this year. This is what I'll do - if there's no FF then I'll sell one of my K5s and be in for a 5D MkII to add to the remaining K5 (so I can use all my lenses on both of them).

A 16-85 2.8??? Can you imagine the weight and size of the front elemant??

It wouldn't have looked so cool with a Joe Bloggs signature on the base.
But I think the 'designer camera' thing might partly be Pentax testing the water re a K-mount mirrorless... you know, if it does badly they can say it was a one-off design experiment and dump all the blame on Mr Newson . On the other hand it might show that there's an appetite for this sort of thing.

I have the 1.7x and Kenko 1.5x (up until last night when I sold it) and yes they are excellent but I would hope a new teleconverter would be self reporting so that SR and aperture are used (and shown in exif) correctly.

The TC is welcome (taking it to 700mm) but I already have the excellent Tamron x1.4 and the AFA x1.7.
At f5.6 it will be affordable (though not WR as not DA*) in the US$1,500 - 2,000 / £1,000-1,300 range I guess and I'm sure will have great IQ as Pentax always seem to make excellent longer FL lenses (*200/*300/400/600/250-600). So with TCs that gives 500/5.6, 700/7.8 and 850/9.5, exciting !
As for a 500mm f5.6 at £1300 .. not a chance in hell (at least in the UK) .. the excellent Canon EF 400mm f5.6 is that price, I would guess a 500mm would be in the £2k range.
A 120-380 would directly compete against Canon/Sonys/Nikons 100(200)-400mm lenses which are the lens of choice for the airshow photographers.
If you want a lens longer than the DA*300 then the 550mm is going to be an excellent option since the only other way you can there now (without forking out $thousands on a 600mm or 250-600mm, if you can find them !) is the 300+AFAx1.7 or a Sigma Bigma / Bigmos or (more megabucks) a Sigma 500/4.5. If the 550mm is f5.6 then it should come in at or under $2,000 (now after Mike's post I'm less hopeful) and that would suit the majority of birders/wildlife shooters who can't afford the megabucks for a f4 / f4.5.
If you switch brands then you are looking at over US$7,000 for the Canon 500/4 (and up to $13k for the 800mm or add a TC for another $500) or their cheapest prime is a 400/5.6 (still well over US$1,200 - for that give me the stellar Pentax 300/4 any day) and in the Nikon camp US$6,500 for the Nikon 500/4.5 or nearly $2k for the 80-400/4.5 -5.6 (no thanks !) up to over $10k again (all list prices without any discounting). Otherwise the cheaper offerings from both Canon & Nikon are .... Sigma or Tamron !

The camera in my phone just about does what the ko1 does why would i want to lug this around as well.
For what it's worth it's not the MP of a camera (my iPhone 4s has 8MP I believe and takes nice pics) that makes the big difference (unless you plan on a lot of cropping) but the IQ produced by the combination of sensor & lens. Some of my best underwater shots (printed very large) have been taken with an Olympus 5040 which only boasted 3.3MP but had a lovely bright lens on it. Hence why the iPhone can't compete at any level except convenience.
Now there's a thought - has anyone produced an UW housing for the iPhone yet
