Fishing whilst waiting for kingfishers to come by isn't a bad idea. I actually had a kingfisher land on my rod one summer's day many years ago !

Note the habitat kingfishers build their nests (burrows) in. Steep muddy banks and their fishing ranges - they are birds of habit and will usually frequent the same perches or stones.

Where I live are lots of large boulders on the streams banks and the kingfisher's droppings are a good indication of whether they have been there and how recently (their droppings are distinctive because they shoot the droppings out behind them whilst perched on the rocks - totally different shape to those that land from birds in flight or from other birds that just lift their tails to poop.

I'm assuming this is the same seller/product as on the other forum ?

If so it'd be good to tell the buyers where the lense is coming from (for postage & customs evaluation) - if I'm correct then it's Slovakia (please correct me if I'm wrong) and also put up the lovely photos of the lense you put up there ! I just bought one of these last week - really lovely lenses and it looks like yours is in prime condition.

I was tempted by a black 77 a couple of day ago .... had it been the silver version then it'd be in my bag now alongside my silver 43 !
Misfuds have a mint condition boxed silver one for £599
They are £100 cheaper here Richard, thanks for the tip but I'll wait for one to come around here.

People : particularly faces of the old and the young. And anyone doing anything out of the ordinary when I'm just walking the streets.

Birds / Wildlife : the fun of the hunt !

Macro : detail, detail, detail.

Landscapes : when the light it right.

Underwater : macro and anything unusual

Shanghai / China / Asia : anything that indicates history / tradition / a way of life not often seen

Pro shoots : done a few now and really enjoyed them / learning such a lot. Dinner dances / sports / events.

Wherever I go I try to look for images I'd shoot if I could only be bothered getting the camera out of my bag !

You should be taking orders, Kevin. When are you coming back to the UK?
Ha ha - I'll let you know when I do (once every 3 or 4 years) - next trip is 2013 as 2012 we are off to NZ to visit my sister (I've already taken one order for a K5) !

[quote:3496ace15f="richardhurst"]Think I've settled on wanting the DA* 300mm. Going to try and give one a go at SRS within the next week.
And now I'm thinking of not getting a telephoto lens of that length and getting the 77mm F1.8 Limited instead. Can't make my bloody mind up
Sold the K7 today and almost bought the 77 on a whim (GBP450) but as they didn't have it in silver I was able to resist - close shave ! I then also passed on a Voigtlander 90/3.5 (GBP280) I found (PK mount) after giving it a spin, and that was even closer to parting me from my cash, my goodness that's a sharp lens !

At least I had a package arrive with a nice Super Tak 105/2.8 waiting for me when I got back from the mall.
Where did you see the 77 at that price??[/quote]Shanghai - why is that good compared to the UK ?

JR is currently doing some testing with Ltd.’s so I would read his reviews and take a course of action from there.

Best regards
I wouldn't based on his review of the 43mm ! Sorry John but it doesn't put the 43 in the best light, which isn't the experience of the vast majority of 43 owners - regardless of what the tests actually show (and the corners of my 43 have never been that soft) ! There seems to be some considerable difference between the results of the various 43 reviews. Don't really want to resurrect this issue but it needs to be taken into consideration if John's reviews alone are to be the basis for choice.
I hope this doesn't read as a denigration of John's review as it certainly wasn't intended to be - it's more to say there is far more to the lenses than pure test figures and the 43 is liberally sprinkled with pixie dust).

This question often seems to surface in various formats - usually the 77 / 43/ 35macro & 31 are the prime objects of desire, finances not withstanding (the 70 often being suggested as a cheaper option to the 77 if money is an issue) and the 15 oft being suggested as a better lens than the 21 (though I have no personal experience with either of those lenses).

This is an old but always fun read : link

You say you use all ranges equally - but what is/are your primary subject matter(s) ?
