Oh. Glad I didn't rush out to buy recharge CR V3s
My duracell have plenty of life left ( I think ) and i've got a spare set, so I'll take my time to choose the right battery.

When I first got the camera, I put a set of Lithium AAs in, which I bought online, but the camera wouldn't even power up. COuld this be due to incorrect batteries used in the past causing damage, or just cheap batteries.

Hi Folks.
I'm new to photography, but bought a second hand Pentax ist DL off ebay.
Think I got a bargain, judging by the prices they were going for, ( £137)

I've one question about batteries for it. It says in the manual not to use recharge CR-V3 ( or have I mis-read it ).

Does that advice still stand, or with battery technology moving on, are these ok to use.

I'm currently using Duracell extra , but would like the added power of CR-V3s but without spending out regularly for replacements.

Any advice gratefully accepted.

Thanks for the tips guys...I'll have a look.

Interesting what you say about recharge AAs .
How many shots do you get out of a fully charged set?

Having had a look around this site I've seen Silkypix mentioned a few times.
Where can I get hold of a copy and is it expensive?

My preference for landscapes is very much a natural look, or at least that's what I aim for - having said that every now & again I do "notch up" the polariser & give things a go, same spot on a summer day...

WOW.
As a newbie, I can't get technical, but I know what I like and that is VERY much what I like.
I just hope I'll be able to get pics like that one day

If you satisfy their curiosity they will understand what you are doing. If after speaking to you, they receive further calls, you've already been checked out..
A friend of mine is a Police officer. He always applies "The Attitude Test".
If you get bolshy with him, he gets bolshy back. If you stay polite with him, and haven't committed a ( major ) offence, he'll have a chat, then walk on.

I got an SLR ( Pentax Super ME ) to hang on my telescope for some Astro shots, but liked using it so much I started using it on holiday. But I didn't like not knowing how a shot would turn out until I got the film developed. So I decided to go digital, on a limited budget.
So Ebay!! Got a Pentax ist DL and love it!!

I've had quite enough of this banning innocent passtimes for "the greater good". It doesn't work, and if it did it would be thoroughly debatable whether or not it's worth it.

They can have my cameras, when they prise them from my cold, dead fingers.

Thankfully no one looks likely to come for them any time soon. I hope for the sake of all concerned that they do not come in my lifetime.
Here, here!

GIve that man a medal
