A truly delightful portrait. Well lit (thank you for the details) with the resultant fine textures.

An interesting thread - I learned something that I have yet to need. But just in case, I've started hunting for the wee plastic thingy.

Yes, 'utilitarian' springs to mind. Whatever happened to art in architecture? Although this century has seen a resurgence in 'interesting' buildings.

Last Wednesday, rather foolishly, I joined a few friends for a dawn photoshoot on Ullswater. The chartered ferry departed from Glenridding at 06:00 and in contrast with the previous sunny and cloudless day, this was overcast, drizzly and very cold.

I returned with gigabytes of shots (shooting in RAW) and barely a 'keeper' amongst the lot. The usual battle of exposure time needing to be high because we were on a moving boat, aperture too wide for a decent depth of field (owing to lack of light) and high ISO for the same reason.

I played around with several of the shots and thought some may be interested in a before and after view.

Superb sequence. Number seven is (for me) a real show stopper!

I'm an Adobe £8 a month user too, Photoshop/Lightroom. I'm a keen Photo Club member and the 'best editing software' discussion often crops (pardon the pun) up. Many of our members use only a fraction of the functions offered by most editing programs. Most commonly folk strive to achieve acceptable shots straight out of the camera, but some are serious image manipulators and explore their programs to their outer limits.

My point is, that if you are not interested in workflow systems and your editing is limited to brightness/contrast, cropping and sharpening, then there is little point in digging deep for high end software.

Always a challenge to see what can be done with a different pair of eyes. Blink, and there's something different!
