I honestly believe that if you had more qualified people in the photo and video departements of those mega eletronics stores, you'd see more Pentax sold.
They have no idea what they are selling, and have no way of informing a costumer properly.
Only had 2 good experiences, both in Jessops, and guess what, I was recommended the K10D (it was a fantastic price at the time). Sadly I had my mind set on a super zoom, dont regret that buy, but I do regret not buying the K10D earlier.

I now have a 50mm F1.4 (from my fathers Program A) thats filled with fungus, however it seems so far not to show up in the pictures.
I was advised to let it catch some sunlight to kill the fungus with UV light.

But I was thinking, wouldn't a UV flashlight work much better/faster than waiting for sunlight in Scotland?

Has anyone ever tried this?

Of course SRS is not perfect, but if people love it so much it has to be for a reason.
They have good prices, great service (accommodating, pleasant), ship fast and treat us to free shipping.

I've ordered a CPL from a company (online) and they didn't say it was out of stock, I had to find out after I ordered it.
I then got it from another company, had the CPL arrive about month after I ordered it, no explanation why...
I'm not naming names because I dont think they are especially bad... Just goes to show how easily we are subjected to these mishaps when buying online.

SRS for me now is not only good prices, but peace of mind.
Of course I wont buy everything from them, but its at the top of my list when I'm looking for something.

I took the camera out for a spin and sadly the new batteries are now dead. After 8 shots, they have been in the camera for only 3 days...
Seems I better buy a used one...

I think I might as well fork the money for the repair or a new lens, because killing fungi with sunlight right now, here... in Edinburgh? Thats gonna be difficult

Thats a pitty...
Cameratiks here in Edinburgh told me it would start at £24 to clean a lens. It probably depends on what you need to do...
I'll take the lens there and check what they say.

No, its my father's Program A and its seen better days.

I borrowed it from him last time I went home for Christmas vacations. He still doesnt want to give it to me... I admit I only want it for th 50mm F1.4, I'd rather have an MX...
His reluctance is understandable since he paid so much for it at the time and it has taken so many pictures throughout its 20 years.
I was looking through my father's slides (a few hundreds of them) and I realized it would make a fantastic present if I digitized them and made a book to offer him.

After he finally lent me the camera, succumbing to the fact its been sitting in the bag for a couple of years now... I thought it would also be nice to give him back the camera in a better state. Can't promise the F1.4 wont be swapped for my F1.7 though

Anyhow, here's the camera:

That bag is beyhond hope, and the white stuff on it spells trouble...

Some dust, tiny scuffs, but seems ok...

Yep, its got some dust specks...

Ouch, that is a big one...

But if we take a better look

Tragedy

The camera seems to still work fine.
And the lens?
Some pics of my F1.7 from the K10D:

Still no signs of those fungi or dust.

So I'll give the camera a cleaning and take for a stroll then its on to find a quote on how much it'll cost to get rid of the dirt and fungi out of the 50mm.

I think all married amateur photogs should practice portraits. This way you can take beautifull pics of her and the children and then say "see, thats why I pay so much for my lenses".
You're in a hard spot to justify that DA* 300mm or ultra wide zoom...

I've looked a bit at flashes, and from what I gather they can only talk to with the camera if they are P-TTL.
I dont use them that much, and money being short I'd rather spend it on lenses (otherwise I'd go with a Metz 4.

I dont mind just using the manual mode.
What is the easiest way for me to be able t use the K10D on any mode (P,Tv,Av,M, etc) and still fire the flash.
This flash doe shave a pc sync cord. So would a hot shoe adpater be sufficient?
I'd like to be able to shoot it a bit farther from the camera so could a P-TTL cable be used to fire the flash?
Theres is also the possibility of radio triggers that you connect to the hot shoe and another to the flash if those work with the flash, then better, no wires...
If the 24sr is like the 30SR it might be safe voltage on the camera's hot-shoe, but I'm not gonna test that out on my K10D. Would I have any voltage concern if I use one of these methods instead?
