I prefer 4, which I find pleasingly dizzying or disconcerting, or both. And the fog diffused light is lovely.

Thanks for the comments.

Absolutely, positively, number 4 for me.

It reminds me of Martin Schoeller's "Close Up: Portraits" collection.

I would love to know how you shot that picture as I've got some theatrical headshots to do soon, and would love that sort of effect.
Not much to do with the shooting - a fairly gloomy day and the background was a garden shed. This explains how to get that look link=http://www.scottkelby.com/blog/2008/archives/1094][http://www.scottkelby.com/blog/2008/archives/1094[/link] It doesn't always seem to work, but when it does the results are always interesting. Here's another example that I was pleased with:

I've been producing some alternative versions of my photos in Lightroom and I'm getting a bit addicted, so before I become a complete junkie I'd like to know what you think of these portraits of my nephew - K20D, 16-45 and a lot of mucking around with sliders. Too much?:

It's a wall gecko - lacerta muralis. There's loads of them living in the stone walls of the house so it gives me a good reason not to repoint.

Things are finally emerging from a long cold winter so I spent a very pleasant day in the garden last week seeking them out. K20D + Pentax 55-300 the first, the rest Tamron SP90 f2.5 macro

Anyone there?

I travelled through Namaqualand a fortnight after the floral display had come to an end and everything had returned to brown, so nice to see what it would have looked like. Number 4 is mesmerising.

Thanks for all the comments - very useful. Unfortunately in #1 I can't get an angle which cuts out the brush in the foreground obscuring the road - well not without abseiling. I might have to be up there a few minutes earlier though to cut out some shadow - although the shadow isn't particularly shadowy on my monitor - so I'll have to see how it looks on a different monitor.

From the commments shot #four is worth a revisit, and I can drive there. Thanks for the work you did Matt - how did you do it and how did you get it sharper than the original?

Went for a play last night with the 16-45. Walking up the hill for the first shot nearly killed me, so I hope it's worth it.

I find Scott Kelby's guide book on Lightroom very informative.
