The key Q is do you need one. seems like you do. I have a Canon S3 which I take with me as a pocket camera but if I want to try and do clever things with dof or telephoto or as you say wide angle then you have a use for one. I also have an *ist Ds for that The 10D is great value now so you've answered your own Q....Get cracking and let us know about your new toy!!!...LOL

There is a review in th new mag. They don't seem that excited about it. quite a few iffy comments. Was surprised after reading others.

Perhaps your like me. Even though retired, still no time. It tends to come in bursts every now and then.

Be careful before you get a larger card. Older versions like my ist Ds will only take 2Gb. So check compatability first.

Over the past year or so I've noticed that the Pentax adverts for the major stores have been becoming more numerous and creeping further to the top of the page. Just a little personal reading beween the lines (or ads)
Still come after the dedicated canon and Nikon pages though.

Well done, a brilliant idea. This is the greatest victory for the common over corporate greed that i have heard about this year.

Didn't Epson use to do that? ( I use compats anyways)

If you search around you will find several companies in the UK offer a two year warranty on cameras. Exceptionally I found one of three years recently..... Shop around.

You could always find your cheapest deal and put some of the saving into a stand alone insurance. If you can't afford to replace your equipment for a long time this is a good option for you.

When I bought my *ist Ds mirror lock up was one of the features drop from the spec of the *ist D that came before. I can't find any mention of mirror lock in the K10D's spec. Is it not there....should it be do you think?

The Sigma does do one thing that the Pentax doesn't, it will till turn as well as tilt. So if use take a picture in portrait orientation you can still bounce light off the ceiling. Otherwise it does pretty much the same. For the above reason though I got the sigma.
