From what Smeggypants has shown it's a problem under tungsten light so natural light should be okay i guess.
Thanks, Stefan. But wouldn't a very low, yellow-ish natural light (reflected from all that woodwork) mimic tungsten?

All the best,

Chris

Can anyone tell me if this is an example of front focusing? I had assumed that it was sheer incompetence on my part, but having followed this and other threads I am not so sure. As far as I remember I focused on the organ. I am amazed at the K-5's ability to produce such a bright image in a very gloomy interior, but concerned that I might have the front-focusing problem. There was no artificial light in the church, just very low natural light. I can't check the camera at the moment because it is away having its stained sensor replaced. I'm in two minds about the K-5. Most of what it does far exceeds anything I have been used to, but so far I have owned it for nine weeks but only had the use of it for three!

I'll be interested to know what the forum's experts make of the image.

Many thanks,

Chris

I'm afraid I don't have the odd £1k in loose change just at the moment: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TELEPLUS-2x-PK-TELE-CONVERTER-PENTAX-PK-CAMERAS-/390293913...

Mind you, postage is very reasonable!

All the best,

Chris

got the PK mount tonight for about €20 incl p&p not bad, lens currently at £70 with 2 days to go, so not much of a bargain by the looks of things
Katie, there's one going here for £99 incl. a 1:1 tube: http://www.lcegroup.co.uk/Used/Tamron-90mm-f2.5-macro-SP-&-1:1-tube_31738.html

The rest of you can stand back like gentlemen until Katie's had a look!

All the best,

Chris

I agree that the Tamron 90 2.5mm is an excellent lens, and something of a bargain. I used it a lot with my old Nikon camera and was very pleased with the results. I have bought a PK mount so as to use the lens with my K-5. As I understand it (I can't test it because my K-5 is away having its sensor seen to), using the PK mount means that you have to use the lens in manual mode but in any case I always preferred manual control for macro work with the Tamron on the Nikon because I found it more accurate and precise than auto. If you're concerned about cost, Katie, the PK mount is much cheaper (I think I paid £25) and it is much more readily available. However, if you've set your heart on the PK/A mount you can easily talk yourself into it by thinking of what a bargain you've got in the Tamron lens!

Good luck,

Chris

My first post and, I hope, a helpful one. I learned today that Pentax UK is expecting stocks of replacement K-5s to arrive this week and that my supplier should receive its replacement units 'some time next week'. I would guess therefore that late next week is the earliest I can expect to get my hands on mine; more likely it will be the week after. It has been frustrating, but I am pleased that an end seems to be in sight.

All the best,

Chris
