the fotodiox adapter I got has two nice features for video... one being the adapter itself has a built in extension tube turning every lens into a macro lens... and it came with drop in, behind the lens ND filters... my zihyun Crane 2 gimbal came with... a servo follow focus that can be adapted to any Manual lens... so I am doing some testing over the next few weeks but man am I glad I kept my Pentax manual FF lenses so far... and sad that I won't be buying the new pentax ff pro lenses, I'll be getting g master and cine lenses instead, after the a7 my next big purchase will be a sony cinema video camera such as the fs5 fs7 or Venice if I opt to lease rather than buy so I want sony glass that has an upgrade path as opposed to have to buy 2 70-200 f 2.8's it's sony for the foreseeable future... but happy at least some of my pentax glass is still getting used.I bought an adapter to use my PKA & DA lenses on my Canon M5 and they work really well. while the sony a7iii is the camera I always wished Pentax would make for the mirrorless market, and it breaks my heart to switch brands, I am happy to say a simple Fotodiox stretch adapter is allowing all my old pentax glass to live on for video and occasional photo uses...
I am happy with the 85 2.2 soft on the sony, and the 28mm m with follow focus is wonderful on my gimbal...
I'll spend some time playing with all my pentax lenses both ff and apsc and see how well things go...

sounds like you had the right cameras and lenses for the job... it is the guy who booked the wedding that needs to consult with the bride and groom and wedding planner who are in a position to make sure there's sufficient light to photograph in if the photos are important to them they can make arrangements to ensure the church and reception will have at least some light (bring in some candle holders with more candles and position them properly or make sure the house lights are only dimmed to a preset level and no less, placement of a fresnel or spot video light before hand )
Since I do both stills and video the "no flash" polices are moot, I ask if I can set up one or two small video lights and they usually approve it. then I know what light I have to work with before the ceremony even starts.

iPhones and GoPros etc are really good for video where you want everything in focus. I used mine a lot whilst travelling for video and 'non important stills' for sharing. 4k has been standard on modern devices for a while now but resolution is just one part of the equation, much like megapixels of a stills image isn't everything. You wouldn't take all your photos on a cellphone though, so a DSLR/larger sensor device with interchangeable lenses still has it's place for stills. The same goes for video too, where you simply can't get a large sensor look from a cellphone only. Go-pro and assorted riggings.
Sony a7III (new since I'm upgraded to 4k across the board this replaces the k3's 1080). with gimbal
Sony HDR nx80 (my old sr12 for 1080)
k3 for 4k time lapses and stills.
any of these cams will make fine b-roll shots on a pro project in a pinch but I rent when I have bigger budget projects. it's the only way to stay current..
and what does all the 4K equipment I use have in common?
They all can shoot decent stills and decent video equally well (k3 only does 4k timeleapses) .... even a screen grab from my nx80 with a little photoshop up res can pass for a decent 8x10 or smaller print.
people seem to forget that CMYK printing presses printing those lovely photo magazines were only capable of resolving approx 2k images for those cover shots.

read how many posts I've made over a dozen years, and remember I was a fanboy that defended the brand in many of those posts. I saw the path long long ago, was loathe to take it until ultimately forced to do so.
after making the investment in aps-c gear, if Pentax wanted me to make the switch to FF and buy duplicate focal lengths all over again, they should have made sure the FF system checked all the boxes needed, because I'd have to be insane to buy FF pro lenses to replace all my aps-c lenses then buy the same lenses again in the different brand and mount to shoot video... I can't afford that... jumping back to FF means I bought the camera system that is everything I wished the k-01 could have been.
still.. I'm a little sentimental...

seems like a job for the ol' k3 and 100mm macro (my fav portrait lens)....
1000 portraits to be made into a photomosaic for a commercial client... has to be done in one week...
this is no time to be trying out the new sony, this kind of workflow requires using gear you know ...
seems like the last big shoot for my ol' k3 is gonna be a big one.
