Here's a kitty blurred with photoshop, and a couple blurred with flash/slow shutter/panning.
both can work.

I'm trying to shift my business away from small sized prints altogether.
no more 8x10's, 5x7's etc.
what's the point? dvd's, screensavers, hdtv is where they can view and share anything that will fit into a scanner....nobody's likely to pull apart a $700.00 (or more) 20x24 framed print fold it up and slide it into a scanner at walmart!
13x19, 20+ inches, WALL murals.
So I concede, my viewpoint has changed, as our product, (and our clientele) get a little more upscale, size does matter.

I think to save confusion, that pentax will just add a new K1, or LXd to the lineup and kepp the k100 where it is.

I hope they drop 3 of those 6mp sensors into a 645 body, and create a killer, pro hi def camcorder/still image camera (think of a canon is3 on steroids. with interchangeable lenses) hybrid.

there are several adaptors that slide into the hotsho and have a pc connector, (mines a Nikon) but vivitar also has an off shoe adapto, you remove the "Auto Eye" from the flash and plug the cable in then plug the "Auto Eye" into the hotshoe mount on the cable.

vivitar has brought back the 285hv.
Best bang for the buck, with several "Auto" modes and several manual modes.
does not offer ttl, pttl, or any other camera control, but for decades this unit has been the wedding photographers weapon of choice for cheap, controllable, powerful light.

I've been tied to my computer with video editing projects for days now...perhaps I've started having hallucinations, but honest Gwyn, I'm sure there was an image there ten minutes ago...

So...
How many people out there used thier camera skills to create something nice for the women in thier lives, this past week?
I made a bunch of photos of the kidz, layed them out into an Iphoto book, saved it as a pdf, which I then sent to idvd and burned a couple discs for Gerri and my Mom. We had a good Mothers Day.
How about you?

Your model is stunning.
The images are very nice.
I agree that another reshoot is called for, I do like the softness, but I suspect that you could make the most of your subject with more drama by choosing a different light situation.

Looking at your website you appear to have a fairly wide client group, so exactly where is this aimed?
We need to offer a broad range, we are in a smaller sized market with feirce competition....not alot of room for specialists. Most talented photographers leave this area to try Toronto or Vancover.

The purpose of this peice is to hand out (3.5x5, with info on the back) at community events (childrens feastval, parades, etc) where we are covering (with video, and photography) to hand out to parents with children.
The goal is to market one service with this peice...Child Portraits.
When sponsers of events get us to cover the events, people see a traditional (journalistic) image. Our hope is people will call us when they want to book studio portraits.
