If there's one thing corrupt government officials, police, corporations and military fear more than terrorists, it's joe public keeping an eye on "Big Brother".....

Watching them pour over the specs sheet, I was amazed at how much neither of them knew about the cameras and how the features apply to taking pictures!
This one one this many more pixels and that gives better quality...(I could've pointed out that my canon g5 produces better 8x10's than my canon pro one....aspect ratios result in the two extra megapixels being cropped off on the pro one leaving you with them same (albeit more densly packed) pixels with more noise and a wider ranged zoom, resulting in a lower quality 8x10 portrait.
blah blah blah....
I was about to point out that the pentax has the same sensor as the nikons, when he brought up his old nikon lenses...
when i did get to talk to a (different)clerk, he pointed out that the supply of used pentax glass was drying up and credited the k10 for "saving" pentax.
He said they were on the verge of dropping the brand, but sales of k10s exceeded thier expectations, and boosted sales of thier new and used lenses. (It seems people often have more than just a camera body on thier wish list, and if you leave them some change in thier wallets after the body, they buy other things! Who knew?!!!)
Sadly, I found out, that the inept sales clerk, who appeared to know little, but was trying to push a d200 on a fella that knew even less, was the store manager.
I'd love to see a 3200 iso image that can't be discerned from a 400 iso images, at 10-14 megapixels.

other than that, just switch to manual focus.
the other option is to use your rockerswitch in conjunction with user selectable af point to move the red square in the viewfinder over your intended target.

Comment by Don posted on Is the K10D Good for Wildlife photography ? at 06/07/2007 - 21:01
ps...
even if it were true that there's more lenses for the nikon (debatable, because the nikon doesn't have the kind of backwards compatibility, as the pentax) the real issue is cost....
How many expensive, telephotos do you intend to buy?
3-400mm's ? one stabilized, one f4, one lighter 5.6?
I'll take the pentax with one good lens, and save the rest of my money to travel someplace where there's lots of wildlife to shoot!
lol

I'm one of those that usually have nothing better to do than answer other peoples basic questions.
I work at home. I am a stay at home dad. I live in a rural area.
Most of my friends stopped hanning around about the time they found out I was a housewife with a baby.
Between house work, child care, portraits, video work, I got three computers running constantly and the temptation to flip through a couple forums between edits/renders/diapers is too tempting. In fact some weeks it's my only contact with other people.
I read your first post.
I posted an answer.
My first answer also answered your second question...before you asked it.
The two things I like about this forum are:
a) people are friendly here.
b) you ask a question, you get answers, FAST.
very rarely does anybody ask a question here, that wasn't asked before, so it would stand to reason that, people could do a search on the forum, and find the answer easily....so why get upset? Couldn't others just as easily get upset for having the same questions that have already been asked?
I personally love a good community where people share so much.
There would be no point in comming here for me if it were any other way.

think of a proper exposure(at any given iso) as a combination of aperture, shutter.
now pretend you're mixing a black russian. You got vodka (say aperture), and you got kaluah (say shutter) that your going to mix (porportionally for any given sized glass).
do you like you black russians a little on the sweet side? (two parts kaluah, one part vodka) or not so sweet (two parts vodka one part kaluah?)?
the important thing is that however you mix it up, you must fill the glass full.
therefore the program line will affect how the camera biasses the exposure, but the exposure (as in how much light hits the sensor) should be the same.
