I'd settle for a 200-450mm f5.6 mirror....a zoom reflex....

I want that lens too...
but at a cool $1000.00 cdn, I'm afraid I'll have to make do with my canon g5 and pro one as they have both active and passive af and can focus in total darkness.....

I'd love to go to those neighbourhoods with you.
you won't mind if I hand out copies of the racist crap you posted to them would you?

Bet I'll live alot longer there than you.

the key to getting past our differences would be to find commonality...I suppose having a lifetime of feeling discriminated against, by racist cops, would be a great conversation starter, If I wanted to find something to talk about while I was there.....

maybe if guys like you changed your attitudes, and discrimination wasn't so oppressive, guys like them wouldn't be carrying guns. Maybe they'd get hired for jobs, and buy nice houses in your neighbourhood. then you wouldn't need your gun either.

Here's a quote from an earlier thread that I had posted.
Quote:
I once had a policeman say to me that "All Indians are lazy scumbags that deserve to be lined up and shot", in front of my twin 4 yearold daughters, (I was trying to organize a neighbourhood watch to shut down a local drug house, I am Metis (half objibway, but I look Italian). My daughters had nightmares for months about men with guns coming into our house. I filed a complaint with the RCMP public complaints commision about it. They said it was my word against the word of two officers and did nothing. I was subjected to alot or harrassment in retaliation.
On one occasion I raised my voice at a cop at a local Tim Hortons (who had just made a joke about starving an Indian by hiding his welfare check under a pair of workboots).
I don't hate police officers. I spent thirty-two years of my life without ever having a run-in with the law, and the first time I did have a run-in, I WAS TRYING TO HELP THEM DO THIER JOB!!! I am sure that they are not all like the few I delt with. But I still find it hard, not to react when I hear something, remotely racist, come from somebody wearing the uniform.
here's the post.

when you say things like:
Quote:
London is a hell hole of crime, caused mostly by your own home grown and imported minorities
after saying things like:
Quote:
I worked with law enforcement agencies all over the country, including but not limited to DEA, CIA, LAPD, Phoenix PD, Detroit PD and Broward County Sheriffs Dept to name but a few.
I am totally convinced you are a racist pig who is not mentally competant to carry a firearm.
thanx for proving me right.
and to anybody that thinks my comments are out of line, please note that at least : I AM NOT WALKING AROUND WITH A LOADED GUN!!!
it's scary to think that he is.

truth be told you are more likely to be killed one block from your home, in your car than any other means.
You're wayyyyyy more likely to get killed by medical malpractice by your family doctor than by muggers and terrorists combined.

If living doesn't kill you, dying certianly will, so you might as well say "F@#$% the odds!" and live life to the fullest.

I use a hip (holster or fannypack) bage by lowepro for mine.
Don't show up at a museum or event with a tripod, unless you've checked beforehand if they allow photography. with shake reduction and iso 800 you should be able to get by with available light. try not to use your flash, and odds are no one will know or care if you have a camera.

I recommend not having neck straps on my cameras, but if you do have one don't ever have it (camera or strap) dangling...have it around your neck (not as safe as wrist, because, mugger could use it to subdue you) or preferably wrapped around your wrist (most people that steal are too lazy to work, and odds are they'll be to lazy to play tug-o-war with you.).

Here's a sample done on a canon g5 iso 100 f2 1/8sec handheld. no flash.

in terms of composition, my advice is this: find some samples (magazines, books, or pro photo studio mailers) and mimic the ones you like...

for what it's worth... your own baby is not the best subject when you're learning. (trust me, I kept (and showed off) so many lousy photos of my twin daughters because I couldn't separate my pride for my adorable daughters from my photographic mistakes).

so do take lots of photos of that beautiful boy, but also try other subjects that'll be easier for you (and us) to criticize for the purposes of learning. (try someone else's baby (I thought all babies looked like E.T. until I had my own!).

I liked #1 the eye is sharp and the light is soft and even.

Alot of places have a two week return policy....
nice to know, if you're on the fence about buying....
be warned, it's really hard to take it back after you've had a week to get attached to it.....

I'd make the plunge on the lens, and cut back on the meals, if I were in your shoes......foriegn food would probably only give you the trots anyways...the photos will last a lifetime!!!
