pocket wizzard is the defacto standard in these parts, but I just ordered the Elinchrom skyport units as they seem to have all the functionality, but a little less range, and much lower cost. (my older elinchrom unit gave up the ghost last year and it's been a royal pain living without a radio slave)

on the one hand, I think it's not the best way to invest your money or time...

you could use a pocket flashlight (torch), or a shoe mount video light...

or just focus manually....

but since I admire determination... here's an idea....

get a small led torch (one of those with three led's). take it apart and carefully paint the outside edge of each led black (model paint), leaving the tip unpainted.

etch some straight lines (different angle for each) across the tops of the leds with a dremmel or knife.

cut a red disk out of some type of gel/translucent plastic to make a filter for the front of your torch.

reassemble.

you could wire it into a wired remote release (elswhere in these forums) that allows you to activate it with the af on the camera (you have to make sure you don't send power from the torch into the camera's release socket).

I've yet to explore it, but using DA lenses on a film camera might give interesting results.

Sometimes a "disadvantage" can be used creatively. A soft focus lens is the most common example of this.

with careful lighting and a little photoshop/corel your computer monitor can be use as an infinately creative backdrop for macros.
added bonus for laptop/lcd users? It's polarized!

glue a greycard to a clipboard, and use watercolor papers that you've painted and some white an black cards to create a portable backdrop/reflector kit.

or is it possible that a bunch of naked sheep threw themselves off a cliff, out of shame and embarassment, causing the wearer(s) of thier coats to refer to them as jumpers?

ps the sweater is %100 cotton.
It's nice and compfy.
Gerri found on sale for a rediculously low price this week.
For those Canadian shoppers, I got 2 whole outfits from skivvies to sweaters from Mark's Workwarehouse for under a hundred bucks!
I think I'm gonna burn in the back of the sweater, remove a catchlight or two from the eyes, whiten the whites of the eyes and use this as my new "CEO" portrait for my business cards...what do you guys think?

Geez!! You get caught trying to sneak out of a girls dorm, at 2:00am, drunk on tequila, wearing a cheerleader outfit, AND THEY NEVER LET YOU LIVE IT DOWN! I was young...let's never speak of it again.
