couple of quick questions from a newbie

Not long bought an Ist D, and from trawling through a few threads it sounds like I made a reasonable choice (other options were DS, DL or Nikon D50)

The camera is still on 1.00 firmware so obviously I want to upgrade it - is the latest release 1.12? and where/how do i get it please?

If there's an idiot's guide to how to do the upgrade i'd be greatful too

cheers!

i agree that SMC-A primes 50s are making decent prices - but then i've just bought one!

Mind you - having stuck it on my IST D and taken a few test shots i can see why they make the money, to me this feels just like a brand new lens, really nice action on it and i love the tiny DOF you can play with at 1.7 and close up.

Think i've found my portrait lens...

they say you learn something new every day...

Well my second AF360 arrived today and I've been playing. So i thought i'd have a trawl through here to see what tips i could pick up.

Then i saw this thread - and remembered that i'd been wanting to ask about using SB mode on the flash. It seemed odd to me that you couldn't have SB *and* flash - what point was the flash in low light if the camera couldn't focus....

So i was having a play and put the camera into AF-S (it normally lives in AF-C) and Hey Presto! I have SB working as well as the flash.

Feel quite silly after really struggling the other night to get some nightclub shots...

how do you remove the focusing screen?

Just to confirm I emailed Sigma with the same question (although didn't expect a repy) they tell me the flashes are different internally so it has to be one specifically designed for the camera.

Quick question on the Sigma EF 500 DG Super - I see them listed on ebay, and in different listings it lists different cameras that they are compatible with.

I've had a trawl through the Sigma website but can't tell whether one particular model of EF 500 is only suitable for one make of camera - or whether they are all compatible with all

anyone know?
