Agree, the third for me also. I prefer the lack of dark areas the others have in them.
Cheers Gareth
Different strokes and all that
I actually moved to get that, in the 3rd one the dof is too shallow to get any detail but hides the busy background, in the others i moved to have the darker background but with the detail, I quite like it.

I've got to start to use tubes more in pursuit of this sort of detail. There is interesting comparison here between these (with flash) and the other set, without it. The chitin parts here all sharply reflect the flash while it is much more subdued using natural light.
I agree they do reflect the light. If I was bothered by it I could tone it down in pp.
Tbh there is is a level of detail that cant be had without flash, from my experience anyway.
The eye detail in my solitary wasp shots is not something I've been able to replicate without flash. The specular highlights caused by sunshine just wreck the detail.
Although for some shots, flash is not needed there are others where it's vital

I've never been there but have always wanted to make the trip up. Even more so now.
As always, you have captured a huge range and quality of light in these and they all have a distinctive mood to them. You use of exp to balance the movement of the sea is spot on.

I'm drawn to no 12 even though it appears to have the flattest light.
Something about it evokes something, just not sure what yet.
Savage set as a whole

Always look forward to your posts. 👏👏👏

Yeah, after that Top Gear episode last series, reminds me of Matt le Blanc on his speedy tractor.

Saw clouds of dust at the bottom of the village, so I went down to have a look to see what was going on, went back with my camera as I had never seen this being spread before, and dont even know what it is thats being spread
