They were hardly so stupid to mix up the portrait and landscape orientation on different shots, it's the only other thing I can think of.

Might get away with it in cities where there's lots of different coloured lighting.
Be interested in seeing them if you do convert them.

What kind of settings do you need for fireworks ?
I never get a chance to try this as its usually our busiest night of the year.
