The firm wouldn't accept proof from a classic policy supplier...

This looks like a fair price for a lens that appears to be highly thought of. I have seriously considered purchasing it for myself but given that I already own a lovely Sigma 12-24mm full frame lens which is considerably lighter, has an aperture ring and the advantage of being a little wider, even if the quality isn't up to that of this latter day Pentax gem, I have procrastinated in pulling the trigger. To be honest, the Sigma serves my simple needs adequately and for a lot less shekels.
This lens has been for sale for several days now but today the asking price was reduced by £100.00 making it a fair purchase at £949.00 considering the price of new.
