To give you an idea on price I recently sold an 18-135mm WR which was brand new split from a kit and it went for £235 on Ebay.

Good idea, never thought of that.

Fautless images really. I do really like the landscapes, especially the first because of the sky. Why didn't I think of that while I was there!

Excellent! Got them at the Isle of Wight. Am down Bournemouth way next week - do they show well in July there do you know?

Ok, I have one, but I find the reluctance to 'need' a K-S1 odd.
Hot on the heels of a 150-450mm zoom I might find it difficult to justify another £299, unless I do genuinely need it....
Where did you get your 150-450 for £299 from?

I found this little Meyer optics Domiplan 50mm f2.8 lens in my cupboard the other day.
I thought before I use it, I have a look at some reviews.
After I read a few, I was just about ready to commit suicide or send the lens to my worst enemy.
Some of the idiotic comments in various reviews:

It is not as good as my Takumar 50mm f1.4 What do they expect from a 3 element Cooke style triplet

it is slower than normal 50mm lenses. What do they expect from a 3 element Cooke style triplet

It is soft wide open. What do they expect from a 3 element Cooke style triplet.

The edge sharpness is not perfect. Who gives a s...

So Before I Jumped down some bridge, I went in to my backyard and took a few pictures with my K5 and this lens fitted.
I can't really find anything wrong with this lens. Maybe it is not quite as sharp as the latest 25 element
aspherical rare earth glass f0.5 25kg 50mm lens ,

I would say, this lens does take some very nice images.

This people who write some of the reviews must be photographing brick walls only.

The above applies to other lenses too. The 2 most idiotic comment reappear all the time
1. It is softer wide open . What else do they expect?
2. The lens is prone to flare especially wide open when taking pictures in to the sun.
This improves when fitting a lens hood. How stupid can you get, to mention the obvious ? Why would you even think of not using a lens hood?

Regards, Horst

Children pics are particularly nice. I think you will like the article:- "Why An Image With Technical Merit Won't Always Cut It Any More" on here !

Same feeling about my two original Q's. Only use with 01 prime and DA*300 but am always surprised. Anyone know why it is so good?

Flash is usually ok for animals and birds in terms of their well being providing you don't over do it. The eyes almost always need some PP. Birds rarely look quite right to me, even if a bit of fill flash is used.
Brilliant to get hedgehogs in the garden. All gone for me now and they could well be extinct in ten years time

It amazes me that we continue to assume Ricoh will eventually do something about it.

Is there a reason why they wouldn't?

I've worked my way through most of them from K-m to K3 (although missed K5 as K-30 came out just as I was about to get K5 which was still expensive compared to K-30 ). Frankly they are all "classics" at their price point and technology at that time. My memory is that the K5 and it's variants were considered the most highly by reviewers and users during their height and so for me they are probably the most "classic" of the DSLR's.
