I have DAL 55-300, Sigma 150-500, and DA* 300. That is the order in price and that is the order I have found to give optimum performance for bird shots. The latter is the only one really acceptable with a TC. All produce excellent results so it depends on your budget and how far up the scale you are or want to be.

As you may have seen I have started to sell my equipment in the classifieds as I have gone full frame.
This was a very tough decision to make but alas I have.
My Pentax journey has been long good but ultimately I need full frame and cannot wait for Pentax to come up with a full frame body.
Thanks for all the support the users of Pentaxuser forum have given me over the years and the critique which has helped me as photographer and hopefully I have also helped some people along the way.

Interesting post on DPR from someone who seems to know a bit about Pentax.
Be sure,all the electronic stuff is inside the converter.
Every ID is transmitted between camera and lens.
And the nice point should be,the release date means new firmware.
The current Pentax bodys are without any converter ID and logic.
New firmware should bring the autofocus back to most converters

There is another thread about this in a non-lens section, a photograph (fake or not)of one in another forum and people who have claimed to have ordered one.
Notwithstanding any of that, I don't see why one with limited experience of autofocus teleconverters shouldn't ask a valid question about what sort of performance aspects a new one made by Pentax might bring?

My Kenko 1.5x has quite good IQ with my DA*300 but it has its faults.
It is pretty slow AF, hunts a fair bit, can miss focus point.
So are we expecting improvements here as well as better IQ?

LOL nowhere in this thread did anyone say a teleconverter wasn't on the way, just that we had no information about it.
.. everyone else moved on days ago
