Can't get that excited although I noticed DPR managed to immediately downgrade it from Pentax's "mid-class" to "entry level".
These definitions are pretty meaningless in reality these days as they are purely arbitary and one camera can always trump some features of another.

Looking forward to the pics Bill. It's a cracking wildlife lens. I have the 1.4x converter which is great but you can crop the hell out of the DA* !

I'm glad you agree about the website. It was bad so they 'improved' it and made it worse. It is so unstructured and the search engine is pathetic.

I stopped subscribing to Which? a few years ago, partly based on their rubbish website (still is) and wasn't convinced about some of their technical knowledge and detail with some products. I did get the opportunity to read the K3 review recently which it pretty much slated. Without agreeing or not about where the Pentax ranks some of the stuff just baffles me. It says things like - there's a disturbing grinding noise when you change the lens, while the lid on the SD memory card compartment is badly labelled and hard to open.
What do they want - a big sticker that says put the SD card in here?!!

The K-3 is water-resistant, although not waterproof, dustproof or shockproof like some models in Pentax's range.

What like the underwater ones for example!

It also says it lacks many advanced features that the other cameras in the group have, without saying what these fictional features are.

Glad I stopped subscribing although none of this can help Pentax sales.

Ok, thanks all. Michael, I couldn't see a setting in the options which referred to embedded jpeg or "original raw". Which drop down is it in?

I pretty much always shoot raw with my K3 these days. In PS Elements Camera Raw 6.7 they always look pretty flat and I need to do a fair amount of adjustment especially to contrast and vibrance and sometimes saturation. Also I tend to scan my images quickly using the excellent Irfanview. When it opens them in raw they are already much brighter and vibrant. If I then load the image into Photoshop as a JPEG and resave it it looks duller again when I view it in Irfanview. My camera is set to sRGB colourspace and in camera setting of bright (Does this affect raw?).
What might be the reason for this?

Well I used F11 at 1/100th sec on ISO 100 on my K3 with DA* 300 and Sigma at 500mm and they were exposed about right.

It's like a baby. It gives you a good feeling when you hold it

Is it two f stops? Seemed to be with a quick test. Does it have any downside on image quality?

Not been to the UK for a while Steve? Wall to wall sunshine June and July in the S.E and 30+ some days . I hate to mention cricket in an Australian's company at the moment but unbelievably we haven't lost any time to rain in two series so far!
