It's annoying when you get one like this. I think the way the cloud bulges upwards over the tree draws the eye much more than one would like, to the detriment of all the drama that's going on top left. The tree itself is a highly competing element. Therefore, I would try losing the right portion containing the hedge and the gate to try and redress the balance?

No, you are correct. It needs straightening. It is, however, a particularly nice evening shot, full of atmosphere (and birds).
