Is it just my PC or are the images no longer visible?

Does reprocessing the RAW file into 3 separate exposures and blending them add anything that processing the RAW file without doing that achieves? I can't see that it can do.

John, In answer to your question above, my experience is 'yes' it does. If you load a single file into Photomatix you can only access Tonemapping functions, not the Fusion options. The Fusion process is best for expanding dynamic range and does significantly enhance a RAW file that has been processed into 3 or more separate exposures. There are probably other ways of processing a single RAW file to get results that approach the Photomatix process, but I don't know how to do this to the same effect.

Used carefully, Photomatix is excellent software and can transform images.

I don't have the Sigma Larry, but acquired a 16-45 a few months ago and it now lives permanently on my K-5. I have been very impressed with it - for landscapes and portraits it has never let me down and is very sharp at all apertures.

I would not part with it.

I find that the HDR setting gives what are to me rather unnatural looking results.
If you wish to avoid unnatural results with Photomatix, use the 'Fusion' setting instead of 'Tonemapping'. With careful controls applied, resulting images can look very natural, with impressive dynamic range.

There's a pseudo-IR filter built into the Kr. Set it up in Filter mode. It may even give you the kind of results you want without the added expense of buying a dedicated filter.
Hi Steven, the pseudo IR filter that is built in does not give the same results. You do need an add-on filter at the very least if you wish to take shots that look anything like proper infra-red.

Hi Daniel

I have this filter and have used it on several occasions. It is definitely not as good as converting your camera to IR, I wouldn't necessarily agree with the post above that they are 'not much use'. Please see links below for a few shots taken with this filter and the 18-55 kit lens:

I suppose it depends how much you pay, mine was only £13 from ebay, so not much to risk and I have been delighted with the filter.

The video is a great way to make your work available to an audience that may not otherwise see it.

The images are superb Shaun, you know already that I love your work and this showcases some of the best.

Could the rubbing be caused by the camera bag lining?
Hi John, thanks for the suggestion but I think this is unlikely as it has not affected any of the other buttons. I don't think the lining rubs on the ISO button any more than it does on the others. It's possible that I have accidentally caught the button on something abrasive, but I don't remember doing so.

The only reason I posted was to find out if this is a common issue, which it doesn't appear to be. Thanks for your help.

Hi All, thanks for your feedback on this one. The funny thing is that the ISO button is not one of the most used on my K-5, although I do change it quite often. Nothing has rubbed off any other buttons even though some get used a lot more (like the back AF button for example). Also, nothing has ever rubbed off any buttons on my K-x, so I doubt if this is the PH of my sweat that is causing this to happen.

David
