Shooting Rape Seed

In this batch I was on my way back home from camping in the Peak District when I saw a large expanse of rape seed in a farmers field near Oxford. I had the camera in the car so I decided to have a break from driving and experiment with depth of field shots.

This was my first time shooting in semi-manual mode. I set the f # and then shot in aperture priority until a correct exposure was indicated and then fired away.

Would appreciate people's comments and/or critisms as they see fit.

I have never yet shot a rapeseed image that I was totally happy with - not an easy subject to tackle.

With these, in several cases if we scroll the image down to exclude the sky it improves the composition. The out of focus background is great, but I would personally prefer a bit more sharpness on the foreground subject.

You seem to have had a good time doing this!

Is it just my PC or are the images no longer visible?

They have disappeared it seems, or Photobucket is having a problem.

Thanks for the comments John – I did have fun, albeit very briefly as I shot inbetween heavy showers and I only spent 15 mins in the field so it was rather rushed. The wind was a nightmare and the rape seed was very difficult to keep in focus with my camera hand held.

Sorry for the trouble viewing the pics – I’ve reposted so they should all be there now, and a few cockerels I had for company over the weekend at the campsite as well
