It's lovely to see you back Neil, these are excellently shot, the first and last stand out for me. It would be nice to know camera and lens details, I suspect the camera is the K-1, but I can't place the lens. Is it old Pentax glass, something like a 35mm F3.5? Also, did you use a ND Grad filter?

David

Hi Bill, I think it is great that you have posted this particular set because the subjects are fundamentally mundane and to make a successful image from subject matter like this is a real achievement. One of my current bugbears is that when images are posted on the Gallery or in the Forum, generally those that receive the most views or most interest are those where the location is stunning and where it would be difficult to produce a shot that is not eye-catching, unless the photographer messes up completely. There are some shots / locations where the photographer's eye is the key element and where the photographer has to work extremely hard to come up with decent shots that merit attention. Although the images in your post may not be as eye-catching as the Faroe Islands, Scottish Highlands or Iceland, they are equally as good if not better than most that we see. You have not only taken the time and trouble to photograph and process these mundane locations, but you have succeeded in making them visually interesting, if not attractive!

My favourite is Aberdeen Seafront, followed by Shopping Centre Blackpool and Beam Bromley.

Thanks for sharing.

David

Not being a Flickerite, what does Explored represent? Something good, obviously, 'cos it's a jolly good picture.
Hi David, Flickr has this thing called explore, it's seems to contain mostly excellent images, although there are some duffs in there too. Not sure how they decide what gets in, could be an algorithm.
Result is the other shots from that night have around 50 views, that shot has around 7500 views
Other than that it actually means very little.
I think it must be an algorithm based on the frequency of initial views and favourites it has received. I've had 4 of my images 'Explored' so far, one has reached nearly 20,000 views and almost 1,000 favourites to date. I'm not sure it's very meaningful, but it's nice all the same to have lots of people looking at one of your images.
