Not very knowledgeable about flash, but it seems to me that indoor with flash, set the WB to flash, if your using flash you should only need ISO 200,increase the flash if you can rather than the iso.

The EV value, by which you mean exposure compensation is a way of tweaking non manual modes eg Aperture or shutter priorities. In fully manual you set the aperture and shutter (and iso) so there is no nead to "tweak" using exposure compensation.

AF can be problematic at times , but think this applies to most macro lenses, at £284 it`s a very good choice.
50mm might take you a bit too close for a lot of insects etc.

many of the photos I took were in fact in the 80-180 range.
That`s interesting Gwyn, will bare it in mind.

Look here
Would probably never be able to justify the cost, but hiring it for my trip to Africa would be a possibility.
Perhaps things will improve in the future, I am definitely seeing a lot more advertising this year, compared to the last 2.

There are no fast long lenses, no full frame, no teleconverters and Tamron have more or less stopped making lenses for Pentax now.
Well put Mike, the curious thing though is when you look at the old days the Pentax range seems much larger, so what happened?

No Flossie,
Currently I want none of them. The whole point of this thread is about choice;
what I want from Pentax is to have a choice of what I can have, currently the range compared to the big 2 is just pathetic, in both camera and lenses. While the equipment available is good if not better than equivalent priced canon nikon product, the range itself is very limited, pardon the pun
