Just had a look here link
and even though I don't use Canon DSLR's, I couldn't help but think "lucky so & so's. The zoom fish eye is rather impressive never mind the seriously long stuff.

It's funny how different people see the same thing different ways; I scanned that list of Canon lenses and thought "Meh", then I got to the bit about Cosina releasing the Nokton 25/0.95 in Micro FourThirds mount and thought "The lucky *******s..."

It would be nice to see the occasional Pentax releases (anything!) article.

And the word Europe

Still the Pentax 645D is a release and a significant one for Pentax, it's their most aimed professional DSLR ever.
It also comes with a new DFA645 55mm lens and a new DFA645 wide angle is announced so they haven't sit still at least.

I've the idea that they are going to test the European market reaction on the 645D at Photokina and the PMA is there in the beginning next year for the USA market.
World wide release of the 645D around April maybe with the new wide angle lens as well?

I wonder if the rumours are true over the K5 and such.

At least I'm happy Pentax don't have a new model for each range every year, just look at Sony, Nikon and Canon, you don't know what to choose any more

Fair comment, and there does at least seem to be more advertising in UK photo magazines, I guess sometimes i just feel a bit lonely being the only Pentax user in a sea of Cannon Nikons
On a recent trip to Iceland I saw literally hundreds of slrs, I think only one other was Pentax.

It indeed does seem lonely but it does make it always special when you meet another Pentax user, I believe this was discuss in another thread recently.

Talking about advertising, I've never seen one here from Pentax

I'm actually looking for the best price on another D700 as a second Nikon body. They are that similar to Pentax in operation, I don't have any issues using both systems.

Had Pentax anounced another body that was a step up from my K7, I'd buy that instead, but?????? Life is too short.

Would like to go full frame someday, and it would be a pity to have to replace all of my lenses when i do, thing is how long do I wait for Pentax to get their act together? When I bought my K20 2 years ago I rather assumed that I would eventually be able to upgrade, but stay a Pentaxian. As it is I cannot even aspire to go FF with Pentax, that's a pity.

Gary indeed for the high-end market but the entry level is literary littered with models.

Here is something interesting Simplicity vs. Choice
Around 10 minutes in it's about jam that you could test.
One boot had 6 types and the other 24 types.
The 6 types stand had fewer samples, 40% stopped during testing and 30% bought
The 24 types stand had more samples, 60% stopped and 3% bought, now that says something.
Maybe that's why Apple is so successful with their portable devices and did the K-X so well?

Forgot the video link

there is something to be said for keeping it simple.
a baffling array of bodies and lenses is too much for my number challenged dyslexic brain.

that is the main reason I hate Harley Davidson Motorcycles.

aside from the weird naming protocol, it's hard to tell one model the next.
All I know about HD is that they have been happily holding on to their title as the most efficient way to convert gasoline into noise without the nasty side effect of horsepower....

Pentax, it is simple.

two models.
Inexpensive, colorful and good... or... expensive and weather resistant and good.
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

Why would you want to go 135 format, what are you missing?

Not really missing, after all I hav`nt defected to the dark side yet, but low light high ISO low noise for a start, higher resolution, larger file sizes so greater cropping ability, but this topic is not about sensor size.
It is about choice, something a bit lacking in the Pentax range, just been reading the announcement of the Cannon 400 mm F2.8, Would probably never be able to afford one, but who knows what the future brings?
