They are a very delicate but busy bird, feeding almost non stop; It was very comical to see them drinking though, as you can see in some of the photos; filling their beaks with water and then throwing their head back to funnel it down their throats.
I was shooting with the K1, DA*300mm combination and the K3II with the HD 150-450 lens; I like the big zoom but forgot how easy the 300mm is to handle in comparison, it is a joy to use and always lives up to it's reputation for IQ
Anyway see some of the shots below ; any comments (negative or positive) are most welcomed.

However I took a few sample shots to see how the IQ would be with the converter and big zoom combination (K3 II body) which turned out to be much better than I expected.
Both the images below of a young Chaffinch and a young Great Tit are 50% (+) crops, but the IQ is quite good I think) considering the shutter speed was on the low side, the lens was wide open and fully extended and I was hand holding too; any comments appreciated.

Young Chaffinch (ISO 800) - F8 x 1/320th , Focal length 630mm

Young Great Tit; (ISO 320) - F8 x 1/320th , Focal length 630mm

I have just been through a similar experience on hols in the med where the ever present, local feral cat population actually blended in as opposed to acting like "deliquent gulls" , which is what your photos show, they just seem to hang around until they get a reward
All the photos are top class as always David, but subject-wise I like No 3 and No 4
A very interesting set, thanks for sharing them
