I think some of you guys need to remember what this will and wont do for you before you sell the children.
It will give you bigger files (so you will need a new hard drive and faster computer), but it won't resolve any more detail than the K3.
It will give you more creative DOF for those dreamy portraits with the LTDs
If it does indeed come as a 36MP sensor, it's low light abilities won't improve on the K5; the increased file size will help if you make the image smaller, but then you might as well just use a K5.
I hope it is a 16 or 24 MP otherwise the benefits are going to be limited.
There is little point in buying this only to put old, slow zooms or even macro lenses on it. The macro especially, will not be bigger, it will just print bigger if your subject fills the frame. And the zooms, well, that's just a waste.

Why f9 and 1/320th? Surely the moon will go off at about 1/60th, iso 200/400. Fast enough even with a 300mm.

Mike's already started flogging his lenses

Thanks
I didn't on these. They were short enough exposures to just sharpen the ground separately.
It was my first go with the GPS. I'm not even sure if it works in portrait mode. But I guess it does.
Photoshop's shake reduction can handle small movements in stars, but undo it from the ground
When you're up a windy tor in the snow at midnight, it's easy to forget the correct workflow and find yourself fixing stuff in PS

OK, there aren't any 645 photos cos they were rubbish (my fault, essentially)
So here's the story.
I took off onto the high moors to take advantage of the moon, snow and clear night with a plan to use the K5 and GPS to take long exposures at low iso and the zed to try stacking short exposures and high ISO.
In short the o-GPS wins hands down, but it's clunky and you have to remember to take a normal shot if you have static ground in the shot. The stacked shots - 1 second at 6400 ISO lost too much detail and colour to compete with one good shot from a tracking K5.
Time to buy a mechanical tracker for the Zed! oh my poor wallet

and the K5 demonstrating it can handle the high iso too

Apart from the reduced file size, I can't see much point in cropping the image as a lot of DA lenses are quite acceptable outside the APS-c borders. So unless the pixel pitch is at least as fine as the current crop sensors there would be no advantage in cropping and even then, why not just crop the image yourself to wherever the quality is acceptable?
If it's a 24MP sensor, we can expect similar performance to the 645z. If it's any more, we will have good detail and cropping ability, but poor in low light. To really make a mark, they should keep it to about 16 I reckon. Leave the K3 for magnification/detail and the 645z for the MP junkies (not to mention not trampling all over those zed users who have invested so much for the big files)

The most I have ever seen with ancient through to the latest LTD lenses is small differences in rendering, contrast and saturation and invariably the ones I like are the punchier variants.
is it a subject matter thing?
I have had problems with colours blowing out on flower macros. It's quite common for it to go out of gammut or blow out the yellows or something and reducing the exposure has always fixed it.
Even in Raw, the display (depending on your software) can show the in-camera JPEG settings by default thus displaying any errors caused by camera settings being too vivid for the subject.
It's worth remembering that there will be newbies reading this who will glean a good deal of information from apparently patronisingly solutions
