John and Gwyn, I think you might have slightly misunderstood the proposal. Joining in "users map" would remain voluntary, not obligatory as you seem suggest, and such feature would not be more "insisting" than "Location" information placed below members' names. Actually I think "users map" would be even more respectful for members' privacy, if information about members locations would rather be moved to the map and kept there instead of being revealed below members' names in the forum threads. Just to make clear once again - no postcodes, no street numbers would be involved, just name of place/country and graphical presentation of this. Is it really that dangerous and discouraging?

Would not work, as people do not put their location below their avatar.
Perhaps "Users Map" feature would encourage folks? It would still be voluntary

What are your thoughts on some sort of "users map" being available on this website? Such a map would contain graphic information on locations, where PentaxUser members are coming from. I would personally be glad to see one. Not only to find out, which areas of the UK are potentially most Pentax-aware and which are developing, but also to see how many PUs are living in my area. Of course presence on such "users map" would be voluntary

What reasons let people insist on the same brand product? Most often it's loyalty. What prompts loyalty to Pentax? Quality and unique, yet great features: most bodies and many lenses are weather sealed, there is an in-body shake reduction system (which, apart from steady stills, also brings horizon levelling, astro-photography and composition adjustment) and best lens support for APS-C photography. Not to mention about Pentax proud heritage and Pentax brand being not as "common" as Canon/Nikon's one

Could I also get your PM in regards of trading in nearly new K-5IIs body+grip for K-3 body+grip, please?

As fellows above already confessed: use your Canon RS-60E3 or, if you are not coming to Pentax from Canon, buy yourself one as "a third party made unit cheaper than the Pentax cable unit". Works exactly as an original one

It would be nice if we didn't just recirculate the same discussion though, because we've already had that one.
It's me, sorry John, I'm so bad with looking things up. Poor excuse, I know, sorry again. I just couldn't find anything on this topic (I was simply searching for something like "K-3 vs K-5", as DP Review comparison was far not enough). So I thought I could perhaps ask again and sort of refresh the topic, possibly by the addition of new or verified experiences.

Lovely, very helpful summary inputs and thoughts though, on how much better could the new Pentax SLR be over the previous one, many thanks for that!

Ah, metering. That's what I was after, that's my missing element. Thanks. Well, pretty serious upgrade that K-3 is.

I don't personally consider 24mp sensor an advantage currently, due to bigger files size and poorer high ISO performance. I understand though that more pixels contribute positively to the overall video quality as well as some K-3's photographs will now probably appear sharper.

But I do appreciate the K-3's HDR-ed raws, extra sealings, dual memory card slots, easier video recording with extra, dedicated buttons and faster, more accurate new autofocus. Apparently shutter is more durable too. There is also better LCD & USB, newer processor, we've got risen viewfinder magnification, more comfortable battery pack/grip to attach and more fps.

Feels like already good enough update, but is there anything esle anywhere in the K-3 still superior over the trusty, old K-5IIs?
