Anyone else noticed this? £2.97 a roll in our local, so I bought a roll in the hope that this will encourage them to keep stocking it. Anyone else tried it and what should I expect/is it worth stocking up?

I'd suggest that there are plenty of people in the world's governments with an unrivalled knowledge and experience of the generation of wind...

A bit of research suggests that they specialise in commercial photography, and there were a couple of references to an auction house in the video too. Very clever viral marketing!

I'm just a bit baffled why they had so many Gorillapods to hand!

Which makes it odd that they singled this chap out, surely? There must be more depth to the story which we're not hearing. Unless it's a case of them wanting images to be handed to them unaltered so they can then manipulate them to fit the story they want to write...

the trouble is they can not plan and build fast enough. I think it was in the 1960's the decided to build Kielder water and a distribution system to supply industry on Teesside. By the time it was finished there was no big industry left on Teesside
The same happened with Llyn Brianne. It was built to control water levels so that heavy industry in Swansea could be supplied, now all the industry has gone and we're left with a flooded valley that nobody is allowed to use (Welsh Water won't allow boating or anything else there - would it really be so hard to put a few booms around areas containing water take-offs and spillways so you can allow people to sail/canoe/whatever on the rest?)

I can sort of understand "no boating" on the Elan Valley network as the roads just aren't suitable for people bringing trailerloads of boats up there and trying to find places to launch them. Llyn Brianne, however, has a good road up from Llandovery which was built to handle lorry traffic during the build.

It seems to be happening here too. In the late 19th/early 20th century great swathes of Wales were being flooded for English water supplies. In the late 20th/early 21st great swathes of Wales are having windfarms built on them...

I wouldn't mind so much if the things were reliable and generated a decent amount of power, but it sounds as if we'd be better off having everyone re-roof their house with solar cells and put a big pile of batteries in the basement (with a connection to a much more lightly-loaded grid to cover any shortfall). Modern photovoltaics can generate power even on cloudy days - they just need light, not necessarily direct sun.

I can see their point. In photojournalism I think you need to leave the errors in to make it obvious that the image hasn't been fiddled with, as otherwise your readers will notice the innocent tweaks like this and wonder what else you've adjusted (which could completely change the impression conveyed by an image).

There's enough trouble as it is with journalists only capturing/reporting things which support their own personal prejudices, we know it happens all the time. I'm happy to see at least one news source demanding unedited images for this reason. If you have this rule then it has to apply to all.

My experience of the DA 35mm is that it's as good as the best of the old primes (sharp is sharp, it doesn't matter whether it was made in 1975 or 2011) but has the major advantages of AF and being able to use all metering/exposure modes on the DSLRs.

It's relatively tiny, light, and very sharp. Perfect standard lens.
