It might be, but with a K series lens in the same conditions it's absolutely fine which is why I'm finding this odd.

We used to have a portable CRT TV years ago. It was black and white and about the size of a large shoebox with a screen that I would guess to have been about 6-7". Ran from 12V DC or its own weight in C size batteries!

Definitely buy the F 35-70mm, that's a fair price and it's one of their better kit zooms. Obviously check for scratches or fungus and that all of the controls turn.

Hmm...

I recently acquired a Super Tak 35mm f3.5 along with a genuine adapter (it came attached to a gorgeous KM). I put the lens and adapter on my K-m in Av mode with the lens set to M, but the shots mostly seem very underexposed - only one of the test shots was ok. I did try exposure compensation but the problem is outside the range of adjustment.

All my K mount lenses are fine, with the well-known caveat about apertures smaller than f8 on pre-A series lenses. I don't think it's a camera or lens fault, but they just don't seem to work together for some reason.

Get someone with a 4x4 and a good tow rope who knows how to use both properly. There have been more than a few cases of cars simply stalling in fords or getting washed away when the water turned out to be too deep.

If it does stall then do not attempt to restart the engine. You may get lucky and find that it stalled before the water bent the conrods, in any case there is a risk of water being sucked back up the exhaust pipe.

Find out where your air intake is - on some cars it's ridiculously low. I've even seen a Volvo pretend 4x4 with the air intake right on top of the radiator - in other words precisely where the water will go when you enter the water and build a bow wave!

I've done a fair bit of this sort of thing on greenlanes, including Strata Florida which is renowned for the number of river crossings.

Mine must have "shutter go like rocket-assisted bat out of hell" then, goes up to 1/4000!

I like the T mount adapter that allows you to use "divers front camera attachments". I take it the rest of the camera is waterproof?

I'm not sure a monopod would help much, after a bit of tape measure checking. I seem to be a bit tall for all of them!

By the time I'm at the right height I've got my knees partly bent, especially so if I'm trying to look up. This doesn't feel anything like as stable as standing up straight and holding the camera that way, plus it'd stuff my back up royally over the course of the day.

I am pretty sure the tickets we've booked include deckchairs, so sitting down and shooting more or less straight up should be pretty stable.

I've always quite fancied one of those monopod/walking pole things. Would also be handy for scrambling up hillsides and checking the depth of water before driving through it.

My Dad bought one of the cheap monopods last year, it seemed solid enough (although he'll want that for binoculars so I can't swipe it!) The sections were aluminium with the usual plastic fittings and a tilt head.

I might have to try the monopod - I remember them being for sale for £10 at the event last year so may just buy one there.

I'll be the one with a K-m and Pentax-F 100-300mm zoom this year - bought it about a week after last year's event!

I'll most likely be using a 100-300mm zoom, so I'll have to learn how to hold that steady. Unfortunately I don't think my 200mm prime is quite long enough!
